Title: As much as I dislike bowling on house shots
Post by: SVstar34 on June 01, 2017, 08:54:42 PM
It's nice to throw 12 good shots and carry all 10 on each one.

Shot 300 #3 using my pin down Brunswick Brute Strength

A house shot is just another pattern that presents its own challenges.  People who don't respect the challenge are the ones on these boards complaining about the house shot rewarding sprayers

Gratz a 300 is awesome no matter what.  Still house shots can be plenty challenging enough if you go the open bowling route what with the AMF/Brunswicks in the area running a 3 games free a day during the summer for one time initial fairly low fee.  Lots of kids throwing house balls means unlike league the carry down struggle is real.  Still I don't mind.  Edge to being a down and in stroker is it really isn't that big a deal.  Missing my arrows on the other hand lol.

Our house shot can be really frustrating at times as the oiler has had some issues.

Best part was my buddy bowling next to me also shot 300 the same game. He punched out and I finished right after him. Had the front 9 game 3 but the stubborn 10 pin stood

Congratulations!
It DOES feel good to carry when you hit flush; too many times these days balls don't seem to allow pins to fall correctly on good shots.

As mentioned above, each shot does present a challenge.... It's equally challenging when shore transition from game to game alone. Congrats on the 300!

The most frustrating thing about the modern game is that the potential to carry has increased dramatically but the potential to leave 10 pins has also increased.  Without getting too much into technical stuff, the entry angles have increased during the resin ball era, even for lower rev players.  The result is more half pocket hits that have burned just enough to leave weak 10s.  I have shot more than a handful of 300s where I only  shot a little 700 even though I hit the pocket consistently for 3 games.  Not just bad luck, but also not much I could do about it.

good shooting!!!

I still get juiced when I see my ball splitting the 8 9 on house shots!

The potential to leave a 10 pin has increased because the bucket is about nonexistent.

I traded in most of my buckets, for 2-10 combinations, and the occasional thin hit 6 pin (which blows my mind)

The steeper the entry angle the larger the half pocket area becomes.  That is what brought the blow out 7-10 into the game many years ago when lanes were oiled short.

Couldn't agree more unfortunately.
