Award rings and the ABC change?
« on: December 29, 2004, 07:01:37 PM »
I shot some honor scores back like 6-7 months ago... but I never sent off for the rings. I had already shot one of each of these 2 scores already before in this same year... wait, this isn't making any sense:

I shot 2 - 800's and 2 - 299's this year and got the rings for each of the 1st 800 and 1st 299... but never did send off for the 2nd 800 and 2nd 299. I just haven't had the time. And plus I was told that it didn't matter when I did it, or how long ago it had been, that I could do it anytime and get my 2nd 800 and 2nd 299 rings anytime. I was going to have to pay like 65.00 a piece for them... but I'm fine with that.

My questions is, there's something about the ABC changing or something starting the first of the 2005 year. I don't really know what all is going on... it's something to do with award rings, or something? And I was wondering even after the new year occurs, can I still send off my award form and money and still get the 2 rings... or will everything become invalid when this new change happens?

I'm confused???

Although the new USBC (merged ABC, WIBC, and YABA) begins on 1/1/05, the first USBC sanctioned leagues do not begin until summer / fall.  Yes you can order additional rings at any time, the standard siladium ring is free for the first of each award scores in a season.  When you check the info on the bowl.com site, you might want to look at the multiple 300 or new multiple 800 rings.  They are a little more expensive since they are only available in gold, but they are very unique looking.

In the case of the multiple 300 award,if you have the gold ring you can send it to Keepsake and they will put the center piece in your ring for the cost of the piece.I think the cost was around $100 and the roman numeral denotes all of your 300s.

So with this merger that begins on 1/1/05... that really doesn't affect anything like me sending off and getting my 2nd set of rings? So I'm still in the clear if I'll send them off now. I just thought I heard someone say they were changing the award ring "style" or whatever or certain things would become obselete or something. So basically I have nothing to worry about?

I think that the awards will remain the same for the rest of this season.

I've got the transition manual, but I didn't find anything (at first glance) about awards.

Thanks. I'm gonna go ahead and send the letter off along with the money right away. I've been waisting too much time.

I just thought that maybe I'd waited too long and that they were gonna change the "rules" a bit or change the design of the rings or something at the first of January 2005... so I was worried.

down here in Aus, i have shot one 300, which was in Aug, and im still waiting 4 my ring....... Due to TBA (TenPin Bowling Australia) paying for My gold with Diamond 300 Ring, it saved about $380Au odd dollors, i was lucky to get mine free due to TBA chaging there rules about getting the rings, watches etc etc.
