Attention everyone under 30
« on: February 21, 2005, 07:38:55 AM »
Hello. I am contemplating starting a web site geared toward younger bowlers. I am just doing a little research and wondering what you guys would like to see included on this site. Thanks.

Revs are always a good idea. Games and videos are probably most popular. Since the company pictures are off sometimes, real photos of the balls could be a nice touch, though all of those aren't reallly geared towards younger bowlers.

- Member webpages where they can put their gear, etc, and have it able to be listed by state/etc so people can get together.  Sorta like mixing profiles with your own webpage.

- Free Gear Giveaways.  Younger bowlers love that free stuff!

Yeah definitaly a good solid video section that would include
- guides
- member submitted video's
- fun video (random stuff from bowling)
- Virtual Coach.  What I mean by this is get some good coaches, and solid bowlers to review member submitted video's when they're having trouble and leave feedback on things they've noticed which may help them improve.

Lets see what else do I enjoy doing at work...

My video game idea seemed to get some agreement.
The videos are a good idea. You could even do a video coaching tool. Like say "Do you have (insert X problem)? Here is how to fix it". Type thing. You could have different people give their advice to all the younger bowlers---have younger or older bowlers help out anyway they think they can. Or have a question and answer part where people can post their vids and ask "What should I do? What ball should I throw? etc".

Just my 2 cents.

The site you all describe is already available but nobody uses it.
I guess I wasted my time and money to build it.

Good luck with your venture dyno-mite.

Oh gee Im sorry, did we hurt your feelings answering his question. He asked a question and we answered it. My bad. Please---main reason I would go is to play games anyway. I dont see those on your site.

You know you could have said "I have a site that sounds like what you are describing, maybe you could check it out". Instead your quote. Makes me want to quick jump over and look at your site really fast. I would have visited your site long ago except your sig is entirely distracting and draws away from the link with all the other crap you have there. People that have sigs of "Blahblahblah.com" and their name---I visit. People that have ramblings as sigs, I skip over---therefore I never saw yours.

I have posted about it but it doesn't seem to work.

I agree that I could have worded it better but I have had a rough couple of weeks and am a bit on edge.
My feeling were not hurt, it is discouraging to put alot of time into something that people had asked for and when you post to let people know about it you get no responce.

I said I dont see any games. I understand the rough couple of weeks thing. Your site does look good though. You are correct in what you said---the site is alot of what is mentioned. I think the biggest problem with starting anyones website up is getting people away from where they already visit. I visit here, and my best friends website (as you will see in a sig). This is a problem for anyone starting a site. My buddy's site has 30 or so registered users. Some talk about local bowling. Some talk about Everquest. Some talk about nothing. I am the top poster on the site and have about 50% of the posts. Not because its a bad product---its just tough getting that stuff off the ground. My buddy has tried to add the best of all worlds. Links to a game site, weblogs, message boards---its just everyone is so set in what they do, its tough to get them to change.

When I reread your post I noticed that you were talking about games so I removed the ?.

Never really thought about games, I think I will check into it though.

Any suggestions, never really played any online bowling games.

Yeah it is tough to get things rolling I had thought about running an ad in BTM or ABC's quarterly mag but the $ for a decent ad is insane.

Think less mainstream. Find people you know or that you meet who have websites---maybe they would want to spread the word about their site and maybe you want to spread the word about yours. So swap link space. Not even necessarily on a links page. Havee a link in a visible place on both sites---not necessarily intruding on what is there---but something that will at some point be noticed. I dont have access to a camera but if I did I would be willing to post my vids and I know a couple others would be off our site. Maybe someone from your site would want to read some of the stupid news stories I post or have a weblog to just talk about what they did that day. That way it doesnt cost you anything.
