Attention League Bowlers...
« on: December 07, 2010, 02:05:30 AM »
Please leave your loudmouth wives and screaming-arse kids at home.  I didn't come to the bowling alley to here this noise.  Thank you and have a nice day!

I have a red head that is very friendly and extremely well mannered.  I can promise you it is not all "gingers".  With that being said, I agree.  The center is not a place for little kids to run around freely screaming and yelling.  Had a couple instances last year where kids knocked over the computer being used for brackets.  The table it sat on was against a wall and not out in an easy area for people to knock over.  Had to have a league meeting about it because it was that bad.  Parent were told to stay home or find a sitter.  Plus, it was a 9:00 league.  Kids should not be out that late anyway.

The main issue is that most parents do leave their kids at home, so when years ago there was a nursery in most centers, is not needed anymore.  Centers wont pay the $$$$ to have someone watch 2-3 kids.  Unfortunately the few kids that do show up, they can tend to get pretty loud.  Not all kids, but most.  Russell had his child up at a center a couple weeks ago and was quite impressed with how mannered he was.  Most children I know are not going somewhere to "sit down be quiet" for 3 hours.  Not happening.

I have two and they take their Nintendo DSi"s with them, we barely hear anything from them on league nights...can't blame the kids for their behavior if the parents havent taught them properly...

Attention League Bowlers (who think they are Professionals)

Please learn how to play through noise. I didn't come to bowl for 4 hours because you have to reset yourself every time you hear noise on the approach. Thank you and have a nice day!

My problem is really not the noise.  We only have one table for both teams to share.  When the wife and kids show up, the table is full of food, drinks, and toys and other stuff, leaving no room for anything else. And trust me, at least one drink will fall off the table before the night is over.

Now, I do not blame the kids, kids will be kids, but the parents, especially the one bowling, should know better.

My league inserted a rule a few years ago.  If they bring their kids and they misbehave, the parent will get one warning, after that, the bowler will not be permitted to finish the night.  Fortunetly we never had to enforce the rule.

And we wonder why bowling is on the decline??

Stop and crank exactly. We don't create a comfortable environment for new bowlers. You don't want kids and wifes there during a friendly league night so that you can shoot 800 everyweek go join the PBA and you will get your wish. Best part is I don't have kids yet and my wife is a bowler. But if that wasn't the case. Who could afford 20 to 30 dollars a night for bowling and another 30 to 40 for babysitting.

VT congratulations you and people like you are part of what is wrong with bowling these days.

I have 3 children and they have grown up in the bowling alley.  They understand the rules and follow them for the most part.  I dont have a problem with people bringing the family with them for my mixed leagues.  Most of the time I dont even see or hear the kids.  THe only time I find it an issue is when the little ones are running around the settee area and up on the lanes.  The parents "usually" are no where around or sitting back laughing at little Johnny thinking "he is so cute".  That is right up to the point he gets hurt.  I accidentally knocked a little one over when he came up behind me on the approach a few years ago.  Mom looked at me like I had three heads when I asked her to keep he child off the approaches before he gets hurt.  I did pick the kid up and make sure he was ok.  That is what I have a problem with.  Also during the men's league leave the women and children at home.  It is no place to be for the weak at heart.  If the GF or wife can handle the comments and stares then bring her along she is one of the guys...

In case the two c**k suckers that started the thread and everyone agreeing with them didn't know....my comments are directed at them.  Not those that have kids with them or their wives with them at league.

YOU people are what is wrong with the sport.

When you start putting limits on who can and cant bowl because of anything kids, financial class, skill level, whatever...you have no right to complain when no one shows up to bowl!! How about a league rule where knowitall snot nose brats cant bowl??
