What are some of the balls you've had the most success with?  I'm trying to change my tactics a bit and find bowlers with similar styles to my own.  I have pretty decent speed but not a lot of revs, and I prefer to play the track area or outside rather than deep inside angles.  I like a smooth rolling ball that goes long and finishes strong, and I often have problems with over/under.  Track + tweeners unite!

tweeners with low revs? you mean strokers/fluffers?

due to their lack of revs they wont be able to 'naturally' create angle for inside lines and will have to rely on slow speed and the correct ball to make this work.

You like smooth-rolling go-long balls?  I see....

Perhaps with your high speed/low revs you should be looking for balls that start early?  Maybe an earlier starter wouldn't want to jump so much off the dry and help with o/u?

i average 14.5-16.0 MPH, and am a lefty with average RPM. i generally play wherever i can get the best entry angle. however, i can comfortably change speed and release: i have become adept at increasing/decreasing the ball speed, i can add tremendous amounts of sideroll or direct forward roll without any loss in consistency. it has taken awhile but i have become MUCH more consistent.

i use alot of leverage drills, i don't have much particle (i also prefer pearls over solids), and go over the arrows from 10 to 18 board. the breakpoint will depend on angle: i will make it work.

preferred balls: Lane #1 hybrid dirty bomb, ultimate inferno, brunswick power groove, Lane # Golden Nugget (light load particle)

I am thrilled with my new RotoGrip RSX.

15-16 MPH straight up 8-10 most nights. The ball goes into a sweet roll just before a great sounding high-flush pocket hit. Currently, my biggest problem is a consistent release (axis rotation off a little from time to time). This ball will definitely react to different releases!

Coming from someone who plays outside/track area 99% of the time (due to the way I release the ball, can't really play deep), I can really help you out with this. I really, REALLY love my Columbia300 Flipside Wired (which I just ordered a second one NIB from Iketown). It is a Pearl Particle with the weightblock from the Columbia300 Reaction Arc. That is my benchmark ball, and can throw it on anything except the desert or a flood with excellent results. I also use an Ebonite OPTYX Illusion when it gets a bit drier outside. I have the pin right above the bridge, so that it is a very smooth rolling ball. I can let you know about my new Brunswick Bionic Zone 1, which I tried a little something different on the drilling. And finally, one of my favorite balls of all time, my Visionary Green Gargoyle. That ball hits harder than anything I've ever thrown. It has a phenomenally strong move off the dry, but once there's a bit of oil on the backend, put the Greenie away! my "a" game is a down and in shot from the outside---always has been and probably always will be. my ball speed is anywhere from 15 to 21 mph though usually around 18mph. my pap is 5 7/8 over and 3/4 up and i have a high track. my rev rate would be considered average for a league bowler---below average for many players. from this angle to the pocket( 4th board to 16th board )modern bowling balls have made players like myself striking machines. i didn't bowl during the plastic or urethane eras but i've been told that these balls hit harder and carry better. judging from what i've read and seen i'm inclined to agree.

part of the over/under you are seeing may be from the surface of the ball. highly polished reactive resin bowling balls tend to really slide in the oil but can over hook in the dry. scuffing off the polish and wetsanding the ball to a finer grit may help. i've used brunswick balls for awhile now and many of them have been lower rg to lower-medium rg balls----this helps the ball rev up quicker

sometimes it takes trial and error on a bowlers part to see what works given a particular style. you may need to experiment with different balls, drilling, surface prep, hand release, etc.
