League Lineage Fees
« on: September 17, 2007, 01:49:30 PM »
on mnbowlingforums.com we've been discussing lineage fees and how they vary around our area. we see a range from $9.50 to $14.00 for 3 game prime time leagues. just wondering what other areas of the U.S & the world are paying...
our open play rates in the area top out about $5 a game...

thanks for replies in advance,
bstone

About $10.75 per night here in Tucson for lineage. Open play rates are generally $2.75 per game or less.

$9.75 for a 30-week season, goes down a quarter for each two additional weeks up to 36 weeks.  Open play starts at $3.50 during weekday afternoons, I believe, and goes up at throughout the evening and also on weekends.  I think it tops out at $4.50 on, say, Friday and Saturday nights.  League bowlers can bowl for $2/game and $2.50 on weekend nights.

I pay $9 a night to bowl, prize fund included. whoppin $40 back at the end of the season.... might as well just save me the trouble and not have a prize fund...If I could get the league to add just $2 to the prize fund we could bowl for $650 payout for 1st.. but thats a whole nother subject....

Does anyone else beside Me think Lineage is getting too much? All Leagues have to raise their fees to compensate for the Lineage. When will it stop?

When the cost of electricity, labor, maintenance, parts, insurance, and everything else stops going up.  Just because it's a bowling center doesn't mean it's special as a business.  It has to make a profit and if the cost of doing business goes up, they have to make the money up somewhere.

Don't get me wrong, I wish it cost $5 like it did when I bowled YABA 20 years ago.  That's just not the way it is.

Or it has to do with Bowling Alleys not being able To compete with Online alleys where You throw Virtual balls at virtual Pins.  I'm not Sure.

Reporting from Columbia, SC . . . our league dues are $10/week, with $8.75 going to the house (AMF).  We are a 'trophies-only' league but do also pay for members' dinners at the banquet.  We also run a weekly 50/50 drawing to supplement league income.

$14.85 for lineage here in northern california.  one league that i used to bowl in charged $18 per week and people would complain about the small prize fund.  i would then make a comment like do the math.  if you want more prize fund, you will have to pay a higher league fee.  i would then get blank looks

I started bowling in an AJBC league in N. C. in 1962.  Games were 35 cents each or 3 for a dollar.  Adult league fees were around 2 dollars.  On the Wednesday afternoon special you could rent a lane for a dollar an hour.  And gas was 29.9 cents a gallon.  Gas has gone up by a factor of ten, why shouldn't bowling?  It's called inflation.  After graduating college in 1968 I entered the workforce at a salary of $9,600 a year.  Graduates with the same degree today are making $60,000+.  Again, inflation.  Get used to it, it's not about to stop.  --  JohnP

Central Pa here, and the owner just bought a 50K lane machine too, all other leagues went up except ours, maybe because of it being second shift...... ???
