So what's the difference between these two terms? I'm just guessing but does axis tilt make the ball get down the lane with a moderate backend like Brad Angelo? I have no idea, but does Brad A. have a lot of tilt?

i would like to see an explanation of PAP location in relation to axis tilt...or is it unrelated?

These are two terms that probably are not sufficiently differentiated. "Axis Tilt", correctly understood, refers to the degree to which the axis around which the ball rolls departs from perpendicular to the lane. Viewed graphically from the back (1-3), minimal axis tilt would have the ball rolling end over end (number 1 below), 45 degrees of axis "tilt" would have the ball rolling and spinning (number 2) and maximum axis "tilt" would be a spinner (number 3). Axis rotation really means the relation of the roll of the ball to the line the ball is thrown on, with minimal axis rotation meaning the ball is rolling along the line it is thrown on (number 4), moderate rotation meaning the ball is rotating at an angle to the line it is thrown on (number 5) or even perpendicular to the line it is thrown on. (Number 6) A ball with no axis tilt or rotational angle will go straight. A spinner, which will also not hook, has an axis tilt of 90 degrees (the axis rotational angle is irrelevant). Thus, to a certain point, someone with more axis tilt and rotational angle will tend to get a more violent reaction when the ball "catches" on the lane.
