AZO question
« on: February 17, 2009, 10:56:06 AM »
What does AZO stand for? Not sure if the old AZO was the same as the new AZO. Always was a big fan of the "old school" AZO's but never did know what it stood for. Thanks!!!

I dont see anything that has a meaning for the letters, it is probably just the name someone decided to use to start the company. All I see is the slogan, which is: "Better bowling through science."

It did mean something founded by Kelly Coffman way back when, he was a friend of my old pro shop driller from tour days.

Had something to do with the molecules he used in the first balls they made.

As I understand it, the old AZO manufacturing plant was bought by Lanemasters, and is now making the Legends/Lanemasters balls.  --  JohnP

I got a email long ago from Kelly Coffman when I was asking some questions about him the the PBA site because I admired him as a player and asked him about AZO and from what I remember he left AZO on a bad note with the business partner(s) he was involved with. I used to have a Little Boy and was a decent ball but a little unpredictable for my taste.
