The bowling center I normally bowl at had their roof collapse last week.  The owners had detected a problem a couple of days before and closed the center while the engineers were checking things out.  Luckily there weren't any injuries.  The center is a 24 lane center.  The roof over lanes 1 - 12 totally collapsed.  The outside wall (next to lane 1) of the center also collapsed.  Lanes 13 -24 have some damage and debris also.  The pro shop, lane machine and counter area were all destroyed.  I'm sure glad I wasn't one of the people who kept their equipment in a locker.  I guess I'll be bowling in a new center next fall and finding a new pro shop.  I always like the old center.  It wasn't easy and you had to work for every score.

It is a VERY good thing that the center owner noticed problems developing and closed the center down in advance.  Could you imagine what might have happened had there been a house full of league bowlers inside when the roof and wall collapsed?  I'll bet that the house's insurance company is also glad that the center took the preventive measure of closing down when they noticed something wrong.  

On a good note, maybe you will get a new bowling center out of the deal.  I'm sure that there are likely similar problems on the top 12 lanes roof too, and I'd bet that the lane beds (on the bottom 12 lanes) took a beating from the falling debris.  You might wind up with a new building and new lane beds out of the deal.
