B.T.M. vs. B.J. ?

Friend wants to buy her father a subscription to a bowling mag...
He doesn't believe in all the equipment hype.(he's 73, old school).
I haven't read either mag in a while.

Which one is better and why?

It has been many years since I read either of them, much less contemplated subscribing to one...by my preference back then was BTM.  

BJ seemed to be more professionally put together but content made BTM the runaway option at the time...

BTM is mostly advanced instructual while BJ is more industry news with some basic instruction articles.

Since he's not going to believe anything they write, why not just get him a good bottle of Scotch or a season tickets to the local sports team?

BTM writes for the high average, tournament bowler.

BJI writes for the industry. It just happens to also have a column on ball reviews.

Both sets of ball reviews are excellent, with each getting most ball reviews right and with each getting a couple here or there, not so right.
When they both say similar things about one ball, I figure I know what that ball will do and what it's designed to do.

If purchasing for ballreviews, IMHO BTM is MUCH, MUCH more accurate and subjective then BJI. I get both, primarily for ballreviews, and I drill up about 35-45 balls a year (over the last 5 or so years). Again, IMHO, BTM is a better source for ball reaction accuracy.

I get both and like both for Different reasons, But if you just want a mag for a person that just bowls in league get BTM. very little space used for the industry. I think BJ is about 50/50
