last new bowling alley in your area of 20-30 miles
« on: May 29, 2011, 10:23:48 AM »
I'm just wondering please state what city and state along with the year of the last known bowling alley built.

Night club multiple gaming fun bowling alleys like Main Event or that crap in Orange County do not count. I'm talking about a real bowling alley.

Last in my area is 1988 but there is supposed to be new plans in my area for a new alley.

Brian that's the point about AMF Arlington.  It is across from Six Flags on the north side of 30.  It's next to wet and wild.

There is a new place going into the west end from what I understand but it is a high end center.

There are about 30 bowling centers, and close to 1000 lanes in the Phoenix area. The newest large center is a few years old: Brunswick Zone XL in Gilbert: 44 lanes. Wickenburg's center closed a few years ago but is close to reopening. Dave & Busters opened a small party center, 12 lanes, in recent years. Lucky Strike also opened a small party center in downtown Phoenix in the past couple of years. AMF, Brunswick and a private company had plans to open one or more centers in Surprise but the downturn in the economy put those plans on hold. The shell of the private center, room for more than 40 lanes plus an entertainment center, has been built but there is nothing inside the building and I know of no current plans to finish the center. AMF closed a few of their centers over the past decade but none recently. Brunswick is doing an excellent job in running their centers and AMF seems to be holding their own. The three Sun City/Sun City West centers seem to be doing well and, like the Brunswick centers, are routinely upgrading their capital equipment. The private centers seem to be hanging in as well with some year-to-year upgrades and decent management. We sure could use another center or two on the far west side in Surprise and along the 303 loop. I sort of live in the boonies but the closest centers are 20 to 40 minutes away in Sun City/Sun City West, with the closest public centers 40 to 60 minutes away. If you build it (or just finish it), we will come!

I live in Delaware. The newest one built is in Middletown. Mid County Lanes built around 3 years ago.

Lucky Strike does not count as a bowling alley ( the one in Gilbert). This is the night club alleys I was refering to in Orange County now offended it's coming to Fort Worth. Is this garbage going across the United States or something?

As for the real alleys it is encouraging to see that there has been some new real bowling alleys built as in the last several years all I read about is closed alleys.

Well The newest one by me is in a Arcade center called Funway, opened in 2008 I think, but I think they are trying to make work as a real bowling alley. I have seen that they have winter leagues going on.
Don't know if that counts or not? Its not a bar setting like Lucky Strikes.
