Alternate Bowling Games
« on: October 22, 2018, 10:41:01 PM »
Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows of different alternate bowling games. Such like the baker format, 9 pin no tap, Suicide no tap, and the world bowling scoring system. Any other suggestions, or ideas are great. Thanks for the help.

The most fun one I have used is Low Ball. Try to get the lowest pin count on each ball while picking up at least one pin. If a throw doesn't get any pins, it's a strike or a spare. A perfect game is 20, so take the total pins knocked down and subtract from 320 and you have your game score.

The fun part is everyone thinks it will be easy, but it's probably the most difficult bowling game you can play.
"If guns kill people, do pencils misspell words?"

"If you don't stand for our flag, then don't expect me to give a damn about your feelings."

This will actually help make you the best spare shooter possible at single pins, and best thing to practice.

WTH is suicide no tap?

One that I don't think you mentioned is single ball, alternating doubles. There's probably a term for it but I don't know what it is. Basically each bowler throws one shot and alternates with their doubles partner. So two bowlers bowl in the same frame for all non-strike shots.

We used to do a drill where we couldn't leave until we had struck with the ball crossing each arrow. First arrow,. strike, second arrow, strike, until seventh arrow strike.

Suicide no tap is basically 9 pin no tap, but if you get an actually strike it counts as a zero for the frame

You also have the Petraglia game. It doesn't go off of score, but off of how many balls you have to throw to hit all of the pins. Same 10 frames, but lowest number of balls thrown wins.

Strike is 1 ball. if you leave a 7-10, you're looking at 2 (more than likely 3) balls needed to knock everything down. Wash/rinse/repeat for 10 frames. Lowest "score" (number of balls thrown) wins.
