in purchasing balls that are several years old. Forgive me if this has been discussed before, but the pro shop I frequent has NIB older balls, some probably 10-15 yrs or better. Would the integrity/performance of the ball be compromised from just sitting around for that long? There are still some oldies but goodies out there, but I'd hate to waste the money.

If they are not cracked when you buy them and he takes the normal precautions when drilling, I forsee no problems.

Many people, myself included, have bought, via the internet, that are more than 10 years old and have used them with no problems. Plus these have been delivered via FEDEX or UPS cross country, sometimes in the heat AND humidity of summer or the cold of winter, with no problems, again.

No problem. I have done so several times (NSÂ² Fuze Igniter which was 5 years old, and a Revolution Renegade which was even 7 years old when I bought it NIB), and had no real problems. Just ask the seller if the ball is intact concerning shell and core (it could have separated, but older balls are much more stable than modern stuff with thinner shells).

And, when you get the ball drilled up, I'd recommend a surface refreshment, even if it is NIB. Especially old polished pieces seem to lack traction and "bite" after sitting around for a long time - at least, that's my experience. A light sanding and a fresh coat of polish brings out the true potential of the piece.
