Back-Up Ball for a Strike Ball....anyone do it?

Thoughts?  I know it's not conventional and will be mocked by some/many, but does anyone do it? 
 
I figure if it works, why not?  Any tips on doing it?

For the rest of us here.  The Asian spinner spins like a top,  with extreme forward spin.   The bowler may throw the ball with their wrist and elbow inside the ball, but their hand comes over the top a way to produce the spin.

 

The back up ball works like a hook ball, but in the reverse action of the throwing hand.    Many good back up players can hook the ball and make the ball look normal if you didn't see their physical game.

 

The difference is the back up bowler attempts to hook the ball, and the spinner does just that, spin the ball with a very light ball with extreme top spin. 
Very good description, and correct. Both are very different things from each other.

Jimmy Martin (the guy who used to do the videos for Bowlingball.com) used to throw a very effective back up strike ball from time to time.  Even though he's very versatile, sometimes the right side would be so chopped up that he'd use the other side of the lane using a pretty strong back up ball.  Like anything else, if you practice enough to develop a strong release that you can repeat, it doesn't matter which direction the ball goes.

 

I guess my memory isn't very good sometimes.  I almost forgot about one of our own BR members.  He lives in FL and his user name was twinkltoes.... (some number).  He changed his name, but can't remember to what.  He doesn't post much.  Anyway, he threw a pretty mean back up ball and averaged pretty good with it.

Big Willy Style was pretty fun and not bad at it.

 

The 300 81X guy I referenced was a real "HORSE".

 

I believe he averaged over 220 with it!

 

Funny, just yesterday I saw a young girl rippin a high rev backup ball in a tourney this weekend.
