I waited to respond for this reason. Look at all the balls listed here and they run the whole gamut, from early rolling oil pieces, to late skid/snap pieces.
There are very few BAD bowling balls. Just ones that are bought by the wrong bowler and/or for the wrong conditions. One of the problems we see at our pro shop is that a bowler wants a particular ball because his friend is killing it with that ball. Nevermind that their games are entirely different and play different parts of the lane... and sometimes at different houses with varying lane surfaces.
If we suggest altering the ball's surface to enhance carry, they give us this bewildered look like, why? Is that legal? Every ball will have it's strong points, and weaknesses if used at the wrong time. If you're wanting and "heavy oil ball" to skid/snap you're barking up the wrong tree...
