To me, the fit of the ball has always taken precedence over the ball's properties. Don't get me wrong...I have preferences and ball reaction is very important to me, but if the ball isn't drilled to where it fits like a glove thruout the delivery, that ball then becomes a problem to me and thought of as a bad ball. The reverse is also true.
Case in point:
Bought a Brunswick Command Zone used (when it was still in production) and loved it. Later had a bad drilling adjustment made to it, and for years it spent more time going back to various pro shops in an effort to get the ball to be comfortable. Eventually found a driller who was able to make a good adjustment to it, and it was so comfortable (and with good reaction on the lanes) that it became the source drilling from which all or at least most of my equipment was copied.
So that ball went (in my mind) from good to bad and back to good again, without any surface changes whatsoever.
And.... I still like my Complete Chaos. It just isn't used for the same purpose for which it was originally intended. On dryer or broken down lanes, it's a small step up from plastic, and mine still hits hard.
