The Mens league I bowled in on Tuesday has probably the worst conduct I have ever seen in bowling to date, First off we had a guy on out team not come all the way off the approach after a shot and you would think it was a terrible sin the guy goes to Dusty and I and screams for five minutes about the guy not coming off the approach goes to the owner screams at the owner the owner screams at Dusty and I again nothing has been said about the guy that made the mistake Dusty and I had to tell him.
Next The Owner recently put in AMF Quibeca machines they speedometer turns off after some one throws harder than 25 I do every one and awhile, I get screamed and argued with and told not to throw so hard I say 'shove it I can throw as hard as I want no rule says I can't' get argued with more.
The team as whole gets ripped for bringing more than one bowling ball into the center and when a individual with us runs a few in a row and leaves a spare other bowlers would yell out 'better change balls'
I was half way throw my backswing and the guy on the lane to my right takes his ball and throws it like a shut put onto his lane. I didn't say a thing the look I gave almost turned him to stone.
last but not least after everything that happened during the season, At the Banquet no one came and talked with us we just sat on our own and ate on our own the last team that went into the hall was forced to sit with us everyone else avoided us. The owner the bowling alley was calling roll, He called 'Fox Valley Surgical are you coming back?' I responded saying ' Not a chance in Hell' The whole league immediately cheered and applauded some one yelled 'good and don't came back' some one else called ' get the F OUT' others jeered and yelled other stuff at us. We has a team stood up grabbed our check off the table and walked out.
That is one reason why bowling is declining. The Worst sportsmanship I have ever seen. I was embarrassed to have bowled and embarrassed to be a bowler.

I had a simialr situation once, not quite as balatant, but bad.
I was the captain of the Navy bowling team in San Diego and to keep loose we bowled a summer Peterson point league in a local house. It was a money/trophy three person league. Our team took 1st place walking away and on award night we met in the meeting room. They left our trophies and checks out on the concourse and never presented them to us. They presented all the other awards to the house teams, but not to us. That house is now closed.

Wow our men's league is cool sure we mess with each other that this guy sucks and that guys sucks but all in fun. At our meeting we all started yelling at our president to get the dang money and awards handed out.
For sweepers when a couple of guy's shot way over average we are started chanting baggers go home, but it was all a joke we all get along that good. 5 man teams 24 total so thats 120 bowlers not a single fight or yelling match the entire year.

It is very difficult to believe that your team did absolutely nothing to
create this amount of antagonism from an entire league. Maybe you should
reevaluate the situation. At any rate you have presented one side of the
story.

Our league picked up two teams from another league in the house, that had asked those teams to leave because they "were too good".
Another time - I won the local ABC association city tournament singles. When I went to the awards dinner, most of the men stood and turned their backs to me as I picked up the award. The president of the association chewed them out, saying that he watched me throw every shot, and I beat ALL of them fair and square. They still remained antagonistic - I left before dinner was over.

Th the best of our knowledge we did no antagonism We were vastly better than the rest of the league as far as talent went. had 3 guys averaging in the leagues top 5 at the end of the season. We were loud like any other team.
I think the problem stemmed from a team of guys that were about our age they were okay bowlers nothing great though when we bowled against them we blow the snot out of them because we were not giving them 250 pins every game soon after that we started having issues, they were the ones complaing about not seeing the ball speed also they would mock some of the sayings and things we would no to get a laugh out of each other.

Since the hole league appeared to cheer when you said you were not coming back then I would have to look within for the probalem.

Had a similar year on my Wednesday Men's league. Nice set-up on the league (team and individual)...and it automatically seeds you on your team each week by average (no 230 guy lining up against a 180 average to get more singles points.
We had a bunch of people in the league hate us cause 2 of the top 4 averages were on or team. Heck, I was in the #2 spot with a mid-200 average all year (and that could've made AT LEAST #4 spot on about 16 of the other 23 teams.
We won the regular season team.
We won the team roll-off.
Our anchor came in second in the individuals top half.
I have never heard soo many people complain in my life. there is no cap in the league or anything...just 90% of 220.

we have one team in our house league that has some nasty habits:
you go up... pick your ball and when got into concentrated phase and want tpo start of... YOU GET A NASTY COMMENT RIGHT IN YOUR BACK!
they just leave the lane to go smoking.... DURING the game.... not saying a word... just disappearing....
they talk sh*t at every occasion... not only when you want to throw the ball. I talk not about trash talk... I talk about sh*t... thrown in your face.
the team consist of
Old guy (grandfather)
younger one (my age... ~30) Son
young fellow (grandson)
and a stupid guy that has no feeling for waiting on you... talking... talking... "hey its your turn!" "what? " keeps talking
then on one occasion they call out captain saying they can't bowl... so we shift the date... ok.. no problem... then they call again.... 1 day before the ersatzdate... then our team has no time and they claim to get the points cause we won't appear third time
.... jerks
everyone hates that team... and I will never bowl against them
but we hope they will not play next season...
anything else is fair and square and all people are nice and trashtalk is no problem... they know when to keep quiet and when it's time for a joke... except that one team.

That's what I'm thinkin'... Usually a whole league full of people don't hate you for nothin'.
I get the feeling though, these guys stumbled into a "Beer drinkin' league" and took it too seriously for the local folk.
They come in with their prissy, high-falutin' attitudes, fancy multi-ball bags, shoes with fancy sole changin' doomahickies, Mr Big Shot 200 Avg, and done pist ever'body oft! LOL

AMF Quibeca machines or not. I will throw as soft or as hard as I want and the mananger can get new equipment if he/she would like. That's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard.

I think nine has it right we were a little to sophisticated for them.
We sat and talked about why we were not liked and we really can't figure out why, Dusty and Shat bowled in the league many years previous to last season and they said that it was alot different in previous years

"We were vastly better than the rest of the league as far as talent went."
Generally bowling in a league you really have no business being in will lead to ill will. I subbed in a league this year where all the bowlers were in that 120 - 180 average range except for one team that all bowler were over 200 with the high at 221. When I ask them why they were bowling in the league, the said "to dominate" Their they were, struting around like peacocks, yet couldn't understand why no one in the league liked them. Bad behavior is always unexceptable no matter what the situation, just an observation as to why it was probably directed towards you.

Ya but it's fun to beat someone by 50-100 pins.
