...but this is the best bowling site on the Web, top to bottom. Sure, we have some trolls that come out from time to time. But we also have knowledgeable people who will quickly answer questions (even over and over, without getting upset at the newbies or those of us who haven't been able to make the search function make sense), and share their mistakes so that others will not also make them.
This site also "gets it" regarding the sport, where it is and where it's going. There isn't a lot of pent-up bitterness about the glory days or resentment towards those that have grown up in the modern era. Occasionally a thread will pop up with those elements but it doesn't dominate the conversation for long.
And, having been to one of the Gatherings in North Carolina, I can say that the people behind the usernames are real and friendly, and patient even with us mid-average hacks who occasionally aspire to believe we belong on the lanes.
We don't judge the ball addicts, we respect and admire our PBA members, we listen to the coaches and the old ball drillers, and (mostly) all of us take the knowledge and encouragement we've collected here through the week with us when we go to our leagues and tournaments, hoping to succeed and then be able to come back and share it here with our friends.
So thanks to all who will still say "good shooting" when someone celebrates his first 550+ series, who will take the time to politely explain to a neophyte that the pin in a ball isn't just a big plastic dot, and who will spend countless hours picking apart the nuances of a PBA Experience shot or the physics behind RG and differential so that we can claim to understand our sport as well as play it and represent it.
This is not to take away from some other fine sites that support our sport (BBE, bowlingchat, absolutebowling, etc.) but rather just to thank the membership of this site for making it what it is -- a good community.
