Finally did it
« on: October 06, 2008, 09:45:36 PM »
It was a little bit feast or famine at league last night.  It was either strikes or splits.  Got off a little slow as a couple splits bit me in the first game and shot 189.  Decide to switch lines a little bit and moved in just a couple boards.

Started out frame 1 in game 2 with a strike and started stringing them.  Before I realized it, I had thrown the front 9 and had quite a crowd behind me.  I've never been in this situation before so it was all I could do to stay calm.  The long and short is that I threw a 299, my first honor score.

What I'm happier about is the fact that I stepped up in the 10th frame and threw 3 quality shots, in the pocket.  The first 2 were tugged slightly, but only a couple boards, so not bad.  The last shot I told myself to get the ball out where I had been all game.  Well, I did that...got the ball out where I wanted to...right speed, right rotation...and watched the 6 pin go around the 10 for a 299.  I'm happy though, for my first honor score and that I know I can get up in the 10th and throw 3 solid shots and get the job done.

I think thats what I'm happiest about...not the 299...but knowing that I can handle the pressure and make the shots when I need to.

Thanks Gunny!

Nice bowling. It's always fun when you make an adjustment and it ends up being money.

My knees were knocking quite a bit...they felt more like jelly actually.  I just tried to focus on fundamentals.  Just keep on my mark and let my body do the rest...actually worked.

I keep thinking to myself that if I had pulled the last shot slightly like I pulled the first 2 in the 10th, it might have struck.  But oh well, there's next time.

Thanks though guys!

Congrats and nice shooting.
You handled it better than I did last week. Had the front 10, got
nervous and tugged the 11th for a nice 4,6,7,10. Oddly enough I
was using a 6 year old storm hit.
How was your last game? Often times after a run I'm drain, and
lose it for the next game.

Contrats again

Good shooting.  My first attempt at it I did what you did.  Two quality shots, then sent the 12th one where I thought was good, it hung a little and left the 1,2,4.  Knees were knocking.  I think I kept that ball, Columbia blue dot.

Thanks to everyone who has congratulated me in this thread.  Its very much appreciated and brings a smile to my face.

Definately has been a good week for me.  Shoot the 299, applied for a job that I have a terrific chance of getting and my girlfriend of 4 years and I got engaged on saturday.  So things have been going pretty well.

Thanks again everyone for the words of congratuations.  Still are good people around!!!

Congratulations on the 299 game and your engagement.  What was your last game?

I shot 205 my last game.  Couple of blow out splits, but other than that I stayed in the pocket.  693 isn't the highest series ever with a 299 in there, but considering I have been stuggling with my timing so far this season, I'll just try to build on monday and keep trucking.  And thanks for the congrats on the engagement, MI 2 AZ.

Yeah, to keep myself calm I just walked around the area around our lanes, and kept talking with my teamates, one of whom happens to be my father.  It was all I could do to keep myself from thinking about what I was doing.

Thanks guys!
