footerson, the naproxen pill your doctor gave you is most likely aleve (naproxen sodium) and it works well for symptoms such as yours. I used to use it but have found a more effective method that requires no pills to take.
I have dealt with knee problems with my slide leg ever since injuries playing high school football and baseball a dozen years ago. I have had times in the past where I had to stop bowling due to not being able to put any weight on the leg after a while. What I found that works for me is that I use a strap that I tighten up right across my my knee, just below the bend. It keeps constant pressure on the knee, and really eliminates any pain during bowling. The strap I use has a small gel peice in the front of it to make it a little more comfortable, and works great. bowlallthetime, I wish you well, and hope the info helps. The strap I use is made by nike, and can be found at most sporting goods stores.
