Bad Timing!!
« on: October 09, 2009, 02:09:42 AM »
Ok so I need some help getting my timing back in tune.  My timing has gotten very late lately.  When I get to the line the ball is still just below shoulder level...  Some times I seem to do everything right and it feels great.  But 3 out of 5 shots I pull it left or dump it right.  Going to pratice today and hoping to get some video of my problem.

this will sound funny
stand on the approach with your ball as normal
only turn around and face the other way
then wait just a sec, turn around and just go
dont pause or anything. and ull be suprised how this works
i know it sounds nuts. bob benoit showed me this years ago
and it always seemed to help. give it a go

Funny you mention that, last night the owner of the bowling alley and coach of the highschool team here in town was telling the highschool kids that same exact drill. We tried it a few times and its definitely a weird concept but you really free up a lot of and it really does help.

That is cool.

Another great thing to have is when you get back to normal or above normal get some video of you bowling and hold on to it.. It will always come in handy to help you remember what you were doing right before, or at least see it.

Something I do to help with timing that I started a little over a year ago is counting in my head with my approach. 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004

I did this to help slow my feet and approach down, and it has helped a ton. Also comes in handy on pressure shots because it makes you breath, focus and helps relax. (for me)

That is late timing.. early timing is when the ball is already at the bottom of the swing when you are getting into the slide or still sliding..
