Well the new goal is

“The Vision of the United States Bowling Congress is to grow the sport”
• More people recognizing bowling as a sport
• More people participating in bowling as a sport

This can also be accomplished by not being so wasteful with their/our money moving their headquarters.

USBC is a poorly run organization that was formed to get rid of wasteful duplicate jobs in the separate organizations of bowling.(ABC,WIBC,and YABA)

After they merged they were unable to make those changes. Or better put decided not to and thought it best to save money other ways by giving us fewer awards, and cheaper awards.

This move is a great example of what isn't the whole truth in what they are doing and their way of making things better for "Them" not better for bowlers.

Bowling through USBC will not get any better because they only come up with ideas that make it worst. If I'm wrong USBC and bowling will prosper, if I'm right it will continue on its downward trend.

I agree with the whole sport thing, but they gotta do something about all the money they want. I mean they are breaking down the youth into two short season leagues and making the them sanction twice! Where does all the money go? We never see an end to this.

I think that is a great idea minus the sanction fee twice part. Just make it where if you paid the sanction it is good for the year. Then those who bowl the second half are still covered and only new bowlers pay.

I think some shorter leagues would help increase new bowlers. Not run off all your normal leagues but on a nite that has open lanes try to get in a ten team 12 week league. Everybody bowls each team once with the last two weeks as a playoff system.

Try and promote it towards newer bowlers, maybe some low average bowlers from other leagues could use it has a chance to bowl two nights a week without the long commitment of other leagues. It would be a chance for them to help improve their game quicker.

Plus if you were smart and promoted it to businesses as a chance to compete against other businesses and promote your business with team shirts you could have different office teams get involved. With it being only twelve weeks they may be me more likely to sign up and get involved.

Since most places/teams back in the days all had business sponsors(cause more people bowled including the owners and employees) this would be a good way to grow it and get them back involved.

Have a ten or twelve week couples league, with the same idea. It's less about winning and more about learning the game and participating. Many leagues are competitive and can be intimidating and not fun for 36 weeks when you are new to everything.

You could also have lower weekly fees if you offered trophies for these leagues and or tried to get donations for prizes like gift certificates and what not.

This also will give bowlers sanctioned averages to bowl tournaments.

I think now more then ever it is up to bowling promoters to try and come with ideas to grow their leagues and less about what USBC may do some day to maybe help leagues.
