Using heavier oil ball on dry conditions

One of the houses I am bowling at is getting drier and drier every week.  So tonight I decided to try out my lighter oil equipement.. a neptune, creature, and slate blue gargoyle..  well the neptune and creature were hooking way too early and way too much.. the slate was ok but just couldn't get the carry..
so I actually went back to my heavier oil ball that I normally use.. No Mercy whupn.. the ball didn't hook and was super smooth.. too smooth on the backend..

has anyone used a ball that will burn up early so that it won't hook on the backend on drier conditions.. ??

A team member in league used to do that - had just Hammer high end stuff in the bag. When things would dry up, he'd take a No Mercy (OOB, but used) and play it straight down to the right - he'd produce a smooth arc and good carry, to my astonishment.

BUT: he had a very low track and a kind of spinner release with good revs, so I rather think that this reaction was more the result of the style and not the No Mercy's utility on dry/late lanes. I suppose he could have used any lower RG ball.

I've done that because sometimes the "weaker" balls tend to skid more in oil and be more aggressive off the dry.  Sometimes that's a bad thing, especially if it's jumping off the friction.  I'll use a stronger ball with a weaker hand position to even out the wet/dry if it exists.

used tracks 930T yesterday to play on cheetah at practice. instead of playing up the ditch i played from 4th arrow out to 8 board and the ball was MONEY, super smooth!

all it is is the ball burning up and then rolling over in the pocket, its perfect

Yes I have done that.  Years ago I bowled in a league that was the third league of the night with no re-oiling in between.  I used a Brunswick Teal Pro Zone.  It was more controllable and I did not have to worry about too much hook.  

After each season, I went back and compared the results using that ball and shinier less aggressive equipment.  I averaged slightly higher with the shinier equipment, but had more honor scores with the dull equipment.

That is exactly what was happening.. They were reserving too much energy and becoming super strong when they hit the breakpoint on the backend.
I did the same on the cheetah.. used a duller ball that was slower response to friction.. the lighter oil balls were way too jumpy off the spot..
In my PBA league I actually used my light oil stuff for longer patterns and heavy oil stuff for shorter oil..
I know volume and length are different.. I guess you just have to go with what is working.

Teal Pro Zone was one of the first particle(proactive) I can recall.  Particle and particle pearl work great on wet/dry.  That is what they were designed to do, come off the dry easier yet grab in the oil.

Whackaville of course.....they are keeping their oil machine running from used parts from 3 different machines.. summer the lanes were great.. this winter they are going back to bad stripping and no oil.. nice and squirrley.. but who wants the same shot to do the same thing twice..

I didn't bring my particle pearl sidewinder.. I'll try it next week and see how it does..
