Ball cleaner?
« on: April 13, 2005, 10:25:07 AM »
Due to a brain fart, I left my energizer cleaner at the bowling alley, and am looking for a ball cleaner to replace it.  I'm looking for suggestions for a cleaner for after league/practice sessions (3-12 games), and also a deep cleaner for when I really want to get as much oil as possible out of the ball (pre-application of doc's magic).  The ball is a Xcel Particle.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Milenko -- For a routine cleaner, I use a mixture of 1/3 Simple Green, 1/3 rubbing alcohol, and 1/3 water.  I keep it in a spray bottle and use it with my spinner, but it should work just as well by hand.  The Simple Green cuts the oil and the alcohol gets belt marks and "lane dirt".  After cleaning, I use a wet paper towel to remove the residual cleaner before drying, otherwise it leaves a film on the ball.  Cheap and effective.  --  JohnP

If you want something to just get dirt off the ball, I suppose you could use alcohol.  But if you want to remove the oil, don't bother.  Alcohol doesn't get rid of oil, it just "pushes" it around.  LIke others have said, use something like Simple Green for that purpose.  Water it down if you want, to make it last longer.
