Right lane vs. left lane in a new house
« on: January 16, 2012, 11:34:11 PM »
A new center just opened near my work in late December with brand new synthetics (not sure which brand or type), and I went last week to see how it is.  As is typical with new lanes the oil pattern is actually visible on the lanes, and the dry portions are extremely dry.  What was interesting was they put me on the end pair, 33-34, and 34 hooked about 3-4 boards more than 33, this was right after they opened first thing in the morning.  I came back yesterday for another practice same time, right after opening he had just finished oiling, this time they put me on 5-6.  Again, 6 hooked about 4 boards more than 5 did.  I found this very curious and was wondering what would cause a pattern of the right lane to hook noticeably more than the left lane on brand new lanes in a brand new center in different ends of the house.  Has anyone seen this before? And if so, what might possibly cause it?  Just wondering and curious.  Thanks everyone.

I'm curious about this too because we're seeing the same thing in our 70-lane wooden lane center.

The left lane on every pair is hooking 1-4 boards more than the right lane.  Do oiling machines have some sort of every two-lane cycle, where they clean themselves or something?

Our house has always played like that!! When we had wood lanes with a 15 year old Century PC and when we put down Brunswick Pro Anvil lanes, they played the same. We got a Kegel Kustodian Ion last year and the lanes still play the same. The right lane hooks a few board more, until the lanes break down and then they play similar. We use Kegel Stone Street for our house shot, which is a 42' pattern!

Train a child up in the way they should go and when they are old they will do some "Damn Good Bowling", be a "DV8" and not turn from it, besides bowling starts with a Big B!
