Ball comparison
« on: October 17, 2008, 07:03:40 AM »
Looking to but a light-maybe medium oil ball in a week or two.  I am looking at the Emerald Vibe, Avalanche Pearl or possibly the Razyr.  Any help is appreciated

If you want something for light-medium oil, you are looking in the right direction. First, i'll need to know your rev rate and speed, if you know it off hand. The Emerald Vibe can be what you're looking for if you have a faster speed, lower revs. The Razyr can be what you're looking for if you have a somewhat higher rev rate.

Hope this helps!

Let me know any other questions.

I'm a high tracker (within 1/2 to a quater inch)  generally like to play straighter, but am versatile enough to get deeper.  I throw around 16 m.p.h., not sure about revs, but am versatile, but my A game is probably aroun 250-300, but just guessing.

I suspect you want the Blue or the Cherry Vibe, not the Emerald. Emerald is for medium oil. It goes long but hooks a lot. I'm using the Blue Vibe with the stock surface. It handles medium-light oil very nicely.

I said the Emerald because i heard people say that the Cherry and Blue were stronger than was advertised

I would heartily recommend the 900G Creature Pearl or Link.
Both balls have excellent length with surprising hit for a weak cover ball.

Due to what you say here.. I'd go with either the Razyr or Cherry Vibe, as charlest suggested. I am also a high tracker, 15mph speed, and around 250-300 revs. My Razyr EASILY handles light-medium oil.

Hope this helps! If you need Razyr surface suggestions, I got some of those, too.

The Emerald is still a step up from the Cherry or the Blue.
ALl are sanded to 4000 grit Abralon and then polished.
Cherry is a pearl and goes longer than the Blue and has more backend.
The Blue is actually a solid and hooks earlier (that's relative to the Cherry. It is NOT an early hooking ball.). I'm using the Blue as a 3rd and 4th game ball in a house where I use a true medium oil ball for the 1st and 2nd game.
Both are medium-light oil balls that can vary with your hand and the drilling. They all have the same core, a very medium RG core with medium flare.

Go with the Emerald Vibe.

I would stay away from the Rayzr, as it's going to be more light oil, and it sounds like you'll want to be able to throw it on med. if you want.

As far as the Av. Pearl goes, idk...could work, but it seems like the Em. Vibe is the hot ball right now to check out.

Plus, it looks beast. Who goes with straight jungle green!? Absolutely sick!
