New "Maximum Bob" footage
« on: December 21, 2011, 11:02:58 AM »
For all of those who love seeing Robert Smith throw the ball, here is some footage that was uploaded back on December 11th.  He was throwing a pin up "The Nuts" Pearl on what looked to be a burned out shot.  Even more interesting is seeing his competitor throwing helicopter style.

Maximum Bob, I think he has one of the best releases ever in pro bowling!

Thanks for the link, very interesting.  They seem to put together a pretty good show, I love the slow motion views after most of the shots.  That heli release is really odd but apparently pretty effective.

Herricoptor Barr!!!! (that will mean something to the old time posters).  Him, Captain Bowling Ball, and TBU were probably my all time favorite made up users.  Clutch was probably behind all of them.

I wonder if they have oil patterns with the "helicopter" style bowlers in mind?  If so, how would that play for a "conventional" style bowler?

That is amazing to watch. One finger in the ball and he still gets a lot of  backup spin on the ball. For a lot of us that would be just a finger injury waiting to happen.

I can't picture throwing my 15/16lb arsenal with only 2 fingers.  If I were to try and put on over 400 revs with just the ring finger and thumb, it would probably cause me to be out of the sport for a few.

That was a terrible series of frames for Smith. Most of his strikes were plain lucky.

I never said the results were the best...it was more of a comment about the line he was playing.

When I first started watching the vids and saw the first opponent throw his first ball, I was like WTH, Robert Smith is gonna eat this guy up. I was waiting for all the splits to come cuz his shots were going up the head pin, but nope, didn't happen. Maybe it's time to change to this style?  Naaaahhhhhh.........

I know it sounds like I'm in denial, but I'm not.
