I know this is a message board for bowling so please forgive me, but I got to give a shout out to our Dallas Mavericks.

DALLAS MAVERICKS - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS !!!!!!

But, what about guys like me? I'm not "jaded" with hate, I don't even know him, and I couldn't care less about LBJ, but it did make him sound very conceited and smug.

You would think a guy blessed with those type physical skills, and monetary gain because of them, would be a little more appreciative of the "little guys" who basically pay his salary and would give anything to have his opportunity in life. Instead, he just comes off like a rich, "better than thou" elitist.

I'm pretty sure it is this attitude that has people disliking him more and more, every time he opens his mouth, NOT their personal "hate" for him.

I disagree with the last comment... with the level of hate on him I dont see what he can ever say to not be seen as arrogant, people are just going to take whatever he says as that. The guy just lost the NBA championship and surely knows that the entire off season is going to be about how it was all his fault, what did you want him to say exactly? I don't know Lebron and I don't care who he is on a personal level, all I know is he is a very good basketball player, maybe people should just stop riding him and get back to focusing on the game?

Super play by the Mavs btw, they deserved every bit of the win.

What did I want him to say?

How about "We gave it all we had, and I'm sorry that my performance in this series just wasn't what we had all hoped it would be".

How about "I'm very disappointed, not only for myself and in my performance, but also for the fans of the HEAT who have followed us and supported us this year. I promise to work hard in the off season and to try my best to help my team mates put this behind us and get the ball rolling again as soon as possible".

How about "I know our fans are disappointed, but rest assured, nobody is any more disappointed in this than I am, and I vow to do everything in my power to make it right to the city and the HEAT fans".

What he said, and how he said it, made him look like he had little concern for anyone or anything other than himself and the money he makes. He could've shown SO much more class, but instead, just showed us what he really cares about, himself.

Did you watch all the press conferences? He blamed himself a number of times for the short comings in the games, noted that his play was sub par and that he would look to be more aggressive, and although I didn't really see that added edge he promised he was pretty professional in his interviews. I agree that the cough incident with Wade was stupid, and childish, but the guy just lost the championship and was obviously pissed, getting asked questions about his haters probably wasn't going to ever get a happy response. As far as the idea that he is arrogant... every superstar in the NBA is, Jordan sure was, but no one is riding anyone else. Was the "decision" smart? Heck no, even he knows that... but its basketball, its a game, let the guy play it without all the scrutiny.

I can only imagine what it must be like to be raised being constantly told how good you are, how special you are, how you are the next big thing, the chosen one, the next Jordan, the crown prince, the King, etc.

He's been in the national media as a high school sophomore and every year since.

He's had a high level of success, yet is still one of the most hated players......because he "betrayed" his hometown team....a team rich in a winning tradition!

His parents should have done a better job of raising him. Less lifting up and building his confidence and more pointing out all his flaws and weaknesses. I'm all for humbleness, but I also imagine it's pretty hard when you've been successful and constantly praised for everything you do. And probably just as equally hard when you are constantly criticized.

Was his comment a pretty douche thing to say? Yep. Do I fault him for that? Not really. He's right. All of those people can get a little bit of enjoyment out of seeing him fail......he's still living his life. His life is no different today that if they had won the championship. He's still making a ton of money playing a game.

Would you guys feel better if he sat there and started to cry? Would it make you guys feel better if he said "yeah, it bothers me that everybody wants to see me fail. It sucks being hated. It sucks being scrutinized for every decision that I make. It sucks for being hated for making a decision that I thought was in my best interests.....and not what an entire city thought I should do."

The "haters" were going to hate him regardless of the outcome. If he wins they hate him....and are probably walking around being upset that he won. He loses and they still hate him....only now they get to walk around and feel happy about it.

Personally, I don't care if he wins or loses. I don't put any greater value on him than any other person, but apparently society has decided that he is some sort of idol because he is able to play basketball at a high level. I guess that is what is important these days. I guess that is why half of the "news" is filled with telling us what Kim K is wearing, who Paris Hilton is sleeping with, or how many more kids Brangelina have decided to adopt today!

Disappointed in northface28. He clearly did not understand what I meant and turned it into some personal attack. I have nothing against LeBron, nor I am I a "hater." He just needs to be more mature than those who bag on him and his decisions. I was merely reported what he said and how it sounded. Well, I guess I would lump you in with that other guy. Appreciate the "little guy"? They pay his salary? Excuse me? You buy a ticket, a hot dog, and a beer and you think you can hurl misguided comments on a bowling message board?

Im not seeing how his comments were smug and conceited, hes right. And it struck a nerve and offended so many because hes right. If the comments offended you, hes probably talking about you. The people who revel in his failures more than likely have to wake up today, tomorrow, and the following days leading their pedestrian lives. It would be like if you bowled poorly in your league rolloff and I came here along with millions of others nationwide and said "Juggernaut sure bowled like dingleberries last night, I enjoyed it".

Point is, hes still a human, and so many are happy to someone fail? Boggles my mind. Just imagine, for a moment, how you would feel if millions of people were brought great joy to see you fail.

I'll retract that part of my statement and apologize for my comments regarding yourself, but you attacked me apparently under a misunderstanding of my post.

There's no hypocrisy on my part, sir. It's my opinion his response to all the immature people attacking him was just as bad.
