Is rolling over the thumb hole really that big of a deal?

Recently I made a switch to all 15lb equipment and since then my track has going just over the corner of the thumb hole.  Sometimes I even get that annoying thumping noise.  Even with this, I am bowling better than ever have.  I know it's not ideal to track over your thumbhole but is there really anything negative about this other than the annoying thumping noise it makes?

Every time the ball rolls over the thumb hole it alters the path of the ball in some way.

The ball may simply jump a little off the lane or it could deflect to one side of the other.  

If it is in the air it is not contacting the lane and can be deflected by the pins more easily and it can’t be rolling/hooking in the air. If it is being deflected to the side the effect is not a constant.

While not a complete killer to a game you should strive to get the track off the thumb.

Agree 100% I track extremely high, just off the middle finger (RH bowler). Just recently I had a ball redrilled for earlier hook, rolled right over the middle finger hole, while the ball worked good it was still effecting the full overall hook at the break point. I actually saw the ball skip in its hook the 4 times I threw it. Caused the ball to miss the 1-3 pocket each time by 2-3 boards making the ball hit light. Either plug and redrill for this problem or add a axis hole to pull the rotation away from the thumb.

Where would you place an axis hole to pull the track away from the thumb. I have the same problem and i am just curious.

I also have the same problem, 2 balls are drilled pin next to my ring finger (label leverage, i believe). Is this where i would drill axis hole to pull rotation away from thumb? Size/depth to suit, i guess???
