I need a ball cleaner/polish that will put a high gloss, wax finish on a urethane ball. I have tried carnuba stick wax applied with a ball spinner and a buffer, but it does not last very long on the dry lanes that I bowl on.
What will work better?
You don't need wax on a urethane coverstock because urethane does not depend on oil absorption for its hooking ability. Wax or slip agents make resin coverstocks hook less because it reduces the ability of the coverstock to absorb oil.
For urethane, especially old, true urethane, you need to sand it as smooth as possible, using every intermediate grit level of the abrasive you are using.
(True urethanes are very hard to sand; so you need to start with their current grit level, whatever that may be, then use progressively finer grits, without skipping any.)
Then you need to apply a highly abrasive polish, like Lane#1's Secret Sauce.
This process will or should make true urethanes go longer and hook less naturally.
