What is the best way to free up your swing?
« on: January 28, 2011, 01:56:20 PM »
I have been struggling as of late, pulling the ball back down and releasing it.  This is causing me to have a high track.  What are some of the better ways to correct this problem?

"The only place I get hurt is out there" - Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler")

"If you're good at something, never do it for free." - The Joker (Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight")

"I love Caroline Dorin-Ballard.  I will plug CDB any chance I get." - Rob Stone. LOL. You make it too easy for us to pick on you Rob!

Ball fit is the most important. Once you get your thumb hole at the right pitch and with the right amount of tape in it the ball will feel like it is stuck to your thumb with a very small amount of grip pressure. My ball feel's tight on my thumb but on the release it comes right off with no hang up whatsoever. I took me some time to get it there but the difference is amazing. I started with a lot of reverse pitch in my thumbhole and had to add a ton of tape but it still felt like my thumb was going to fall out of the ball. I ended up taking the advice I got on the boards and had my thumb hole filled and drilled with much less negative pitch. At first I was sticking in the ball because I was so used to gripping the ball in the past. After I learned to relax my thumb and trust that it wouldn't fall out my shots have been way more consistant and my average has went way up.
