Ball help
« on: April 30, 2013, 10:30:22 PM »
I am rolling a c versa max drilled pin up.  I like the ball and the results I get except for one problem. Bowling in one league the house oils minutes before we start.  As a lefty on a trio team I am usually the only one shooting on the left side.  It takes a game and a half to get a satisfactory reaction.  To combat this I had the identical ball drilled pin down. I get too much hook.  I usually practice a couple of times a week with no problem with ball reaction.  I am looking for a ball that will fit in between the two c versa max balls, one that will give me slightly more surface for the first league game.  Any ideas?  I also like the c versa max arc to the pocket.

The perfect compliment to the Versamax would be the Meanstreak Brawler.  The Brawler with the first Versamax layout should give you several boards more hook with a predictable continuous move off the breakpoint.  You also may consider using some polish with a slip agent and/or a flare reducing hole in the second Versamax to tweak the reaction.

assuming the pin down ball is in the box surface, try adding a P1 hole if possible to decrease the core dynamics  little

Honestly, I'd try surface adjustments first, or simply moving.  You're not going to find a different ball that will fit between 2 Versa Maxes that simply have a couple different drillings.  That's already a lot of overlap, and if things have to be that perfect for it to work, it doesn't sound to me like it's a ball problem.  Sorry if that sounds harsh, but save yourself a couple hundred bucks and try out some other options.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I just posted this....

http://www.ballreviews.com/drilling-layouts/side-to-side-wet-dry-and-that-old-fashioned-2-inch-pin-to-pap-t295003.0.html;msg2399851;topicseen#new

It sounds exactly the same as what I experience in a lot of leagues where I am the only lefty on my pair.

REgards,

PS if helpful I'd be excited to hear about it...I was practicing very strongly also on the broken down shot until I went in to league and saw how wet/dry it was.  SO I stopped wasting my time practicing there!  Unless I could get on a condition just as sparky and explosively jumpy as league!
