Mid way through the season update.
« on: December 19, 2013, 12:13:55 AM »
So this year I entered the season with a new style, new arsenal, and completely new mind set.

Changed my bowling style late in the season last year from your traditional push-a-way 5 step style to the hinge style with a 4 step. Got a new ball (Storm IQ Tour Pearl) at the end of the season with 2 months left to go. Bought a new ball at the start of this season (Storm Lights Out) which has been a perfect replacement for my Storm T-Road Pearl. Finally the new take on bowling this season has been my mental attitude about everything. The I don't care mentality has been awesome. I don't care if I leave 10 pins all night or can't carry pins. I just make an adjustment and keep plugging away not giving up either.

I've been averaging right around 200-205 all season long.

Tonight I took a look back at the last 4 weeks out of curiosity and realized something that I thought was rather cool and was worth mentioning.

My last 4 weeks have went: 660, 673, 614, 668 for a total of 2615. Divide that by 12 games and the average for the last month is 217.9!!

Now some of you might not think it's anything special because it's a THS. Some of you might think my god that's impressive. Depends on which end of the scale your on.

I don't think I've used the same shot from 1 week to the next yet this year. I know the shot will be different every week just by the team you're bowling that night but I've had to move left/right by as many as 6-7 boards from the previous week before scoring starts.

Regaurdless, I'm happy with the progress I've seen through the 1st half of this season and I hope to see this trend continue on.

congrats.

I struggled a lot early in the season outside of my night shooting 300/762. the last 3 weeks I've turned it back around and got my composite average back to 210 and haven't shot lower than 650

Congrats on your 300.

I'm still chasing it but I really don't care if I get it or not to be honest. Last year I shot 298 then a week later 299 both with the IQTP. This year my highest has been 278x2 with a high series of 699. My high games have been with the Lights Out, the 699 set was shot with a Storm Marvel Pearl.

I'd like to end the season at around 210 for average, won't be the highest average I've ever had but it's just something to aim for to keep myself competitive. Currently 3rd highest average in the league, 2nd is at 206 and 1st is at 211.

If I get to 210 cool but if not no big deal I can say that I at least tried!

Thanks, that was my first sanctioned 300. I had a few from some tournaments that weren't sanctioned. My first year bowling league in 3 years, so I'm happy to be back and doing well again.

My guess is you are probably enjoying the game and the people around you a ton more than you were as well. I've never understood why people take things so seriously when it comes to leagues. Sure you should try and do your best, but half of the fun is supposed to be having a good time.

Take the PBA for example. While I hated the League thing they did last year, I'm enjoying watching this League Challenge events they are doing this year. The guys seem to be having fun and its interesting to see just how well they do with some of this stuff.

This is 100% true. I'm having a great time bowling this year then in the last few years. It doesn't matter if I shoot 475 or 775. I have more fun when I'm bowling decent but I try to keep it happy and positive on nights when my bowling isn't the greatest.
