Ball polisher no longer legal during competition.

Well was looking at the new usbc rule changes for 2014-15 season, saw this change.

USBC Rule 18 – Bowling Ball – Altering Surface
The use of polishing machines during competition will be prohibited.

Why? because they are two totally different things!

The ball polishing machines are not cleaners, they are polishers.

You put a dirty ball in the polisher, it just grinds the dirt and grime into the cover.

That's why you should use your towel and cleaner on the ball before you put it in the polisher.

not necessarily, according to the rules competition doesn't start until someone rolls the first ball for score anywhere in the league.

So you could possibly have a few minutes after 7, depending on when the first ball is actually rolled.

That's why you have to watch out in practice/warmup.

Say your on lane 20 and have 5 mins left and you want to alter your ball, but the bowlers on say lane 1&2 got done and started bowling for score already you can't alter the surface even though you have 5 mins of practice left.

bradl's comment about the ball polishing machines is right up there with polish boy's comment about negative top weight auto-correcting the ball into going straight.

A lot of bowlers don't have a clue about the (ball surface) rules and I see people breaking them during leagues.

Don't take it personal....it's a forum.

anyway, I've been on here since 2004 and when I started out, I posted some things that got me scratching my head years later. I learned to know the facts before posting, and if I didn't know, I asked. Also, I learned not to talk "sheet" about anyone, because one day you'll be bowling next to him lol.....

We've had worse characters on this side of the site, but most of them now just hang out on the Non Misc section lol.....

Oh, believe me, I know exactly what you mean, and no offense taken at all. I just despise holier-than-thou attitudes that post nothing of substance to a thread. If you're going to say something, then please say it. Otherwise, I can get all the trolling I would ever want in the non-misc. section. Plenty of 'turd' battles going on over there to last a long LONG while.
