BALL REACTION VIDEOS!!!
« on: April 17, 2013, 03:00:35 PM »
just my opinion but i dont want everyone to edit out all the bad shots and just leave the strikes i want to see every shot thrown with the ball. no one is gonna throw the ball the same and hit your mark everytime i wanna see how the reaction when you miss left and miss right and everthring in between. HOW DO YOU ALL FEEL ABOUT IT?

EVERY ONE TUGS THE BALL SO BY SEEING EVERY SHOT HOW IS THAT GONNA TELL YOU ABOUT THE BOWLER ITS GONNA GIVE YOU A MORE REALISTIC LOOK AT THE SHOT FOR SHOT CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BALL

Do you really want to see someone yank the ball through the nose?  What does that tell you about the ball and how it reacts?  There are a lot of shots shown that get to the pocket from missing left and right, the shots edited out are BIG misses that get nowhere near the pocket.

what does the person striking every shot tell you that they threw a million shots and edited 3 or 4 mins worth of strikes. bowl one game and let me see all the shots

I would rather see a couple of shots with the ball in question along with balls near it in the lineup thrown on the same shot.

But in reality, we are all guessing when we buy bowling balls.

I'd like to see strikes, but not perfect shots on every throw.  Can see how the ball holds or recovers on not perfect shot, but still slams the pocket.  I also like to see different styles, like how bowlingball.com and Hammer does it, versus only one style or just one bowler.  Like to see the oil pattern overlay too, and using different oil patterns, not just THS.

the bowler miss their target in the video anyway. theyll miss 2 in or out, throw it slower, hit up on it.....if the bowler misses their target every shot you wont get a consistant reaction anyway so whats the point.

Honestly, we all know that not every shot is a strike.  Some people would like to see all the shots, and there's pros and cons to that.  It's hard to get a read off a bad shot, however, it IS beneficial to see how a ball will react on poorly thrown shots, some do react better than others.  If thrown wide, will it come back?  If tugged, will it hold?  If dumped, will it keep from rolling out?  I might like to see all shots thrown with commentary or at least identification, I.E., this is a good shot, this was right of target, left of target, got fast, got slow, etc.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

On the last two videos I show my first throws with the ball til I find the pocket.  In my Korrupt video I did each lanes' throws in order and you'll see I didn't played each lane exactly the same boards. I have plenty of video by the end of the 2nd game to do a 2min video. I have some ideas for the summer that I think guys will like but will I have the time to do them.  :-X

Completely agree; I voted showing ALL shots.

I voted pocket shots.

Why? Not every ball is going to be thrown the same way, and we know that. But the pocket shot helps because that tells us how the ball would react if given a bit more room or a bit less room on the given pattern. So knowing that would help, especially when the pattern starts to break down.

Either way, the poll is a bit subjective, because not everyone is going to have the same layout, pitch, etc. This is the reason why I've enjoyed Hammer's videos of recent, because they show a team of bowlers, with different layouts, different ball motion, and different lines to the pocket.

A missing option: lane patterns. I would love to see how a given ball would react on different patterns. It gets boring seeing a new ball being reviewed or taped on a THS, or something like Kegel's Easy Street pattern. Show me something like a Challenge pattern (Middle Road), Sport pattern, or something like the USBC Open pattern, and then we'll see what the ball can do.
