Success with 'Balling Down'

Have you had success with balling down your arsenal?

Tonite i tried to do that. Got a Seismic Desperado, urethane, off of ebay for $40. Finally got around to plugging it and drilling it this week. My thursday league is a 2nd shift league starting at 9pm. Tonite we followed only one team before us so we had a more fresh shot to start than usual. Practiced and decided to throw the Desperado. I am a stroker and really get over/under from all my equipment so i really wanted to try something different all year and finally i did. Playing roughly 12 to 7 all nite with maybe 2-3 board move by gm 3. I go 260-267-221/748. Had a run of 16 strikes in there from gms 1 to 2. I really love the control i had with the ball.

I can understand you and have a similar experience, even though due to other reasons. But I am more and more amazed with how "little" ball one can actually get along well and score. For example, my old black Pure Hammer has become a go-to piece during the last league season. It is definitively not a strong ball, but with its low RG and higher differential I am able to make it work in a wide range of lane conditions - I just need to adjust feet and hand accordingly. Sure, it has its limits, esp. when there's long oil at hand, but when I take a look at the ball arsenal I have used last season, the weak pieces (incl. my old Renegade) were prime options, I hardly ever used something with an open surface or even particle.

I did that this season. Due to more work and school involvement, I scaled down my equipment to play straighter. I threw a Storm Reign as my benchmark and added a tropical heat later in the year. I did drill a diamondback with a label drill so that I had a strong reaction but still stayed pretty close to where the Reign would leave off. I avged 204 which was a personal high in this house. Its amazing how far the lower end of equipment from company's has improved. Its also great to know that a high end ball will eventually become a low end piece with time. Ex. Gamebreaker, Victory Road, Vibes, Reigns, etc. Its great that you don't have to break the bank buying high performance equipment when for, in some cases, half the price, one can get a great reaction.

I'm man enough to admit I stroke with the left hand and it feels good.

Whooooooo! Go time!

No excuses. Just bowl. High Score wins! Make the Adjustment!
