starting over again
« on: February 17, 2014, 09:19:12 PM »
im looking to start bowling again after a 10 year layoff. any suggestions on what kinds of balls are hot or can be good for me.
my newest ball is a dyno thane vendetta 15lb. not sure of the layout as all that terminology and tech has escaped my mind.. if you dont use it you lose it. i find that the dyno thane has good reaction but hits the pocket light. but i also cant crank as i used too nor roll it as hard as i used to. just to age myself the next newest ball i had was a storm la nina, that i threw a 300 first night out of the box. but it became uncontrollable at the slightest drying out  of oil.  thanks

While those were a couple bigger hooking balls in their time, they'd be about middle of the road now.  Can't go wrong with a benchmark type ball to get you back into it.  Brunswick Melee, Columbia Eruption Pro, Hammer Absolut Curve, etc.  Once you figure out where one of those will rank on your own hook scale, you can build around that.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

Id recommend the Roto grip Asylum as a good bench mark reaction. Clears fronts well and has a nice heavy roll. Never seems to over react and reads the lane well. Strong smooth reaction to friction

Give Radical a look.
Torrid Affair, Grease Monkey, or Yeti Untamed
Any of those would be a good starting point.
