I had posted a comment on a newer user "BUTTER" (joined 7-19-06) posting a Review, and some did not like that. I deleted that post and started this one.

I was not bashing this person, I did that in hopes that the person would look at some of his Reviews, as well as others and later when they posted another Review, they would have a better idea.

Since then I went back and looked at that users postings on Reviews about balls they had used .

The following are the three reviews that the user posted. The first one was posted on the first day of being a member, and had a 300!!!!!!!!

And they said i could never do it. Well i did i shot my first 300 with this ball out the ball out the box. Pretty good for someone who balls off the wrong foot.Im a right handed bowler and i end up on the right foot lol.My buddy drilled up a 14 pound for me and man this ball rips to the pocket, unbelievable is all i can say.No matter were i put this ball it struck but ya better have some speed behind if not bye bye towards the 7 pin, for righties of course. I typically throw columbia but now ill be throwing both so thanks hammer for a hard hitting ball. YES IT HOOKS--J HOOK I CALL

The 2 nd was a Action Attack

I MUST SAY IM IMPRESSED WITH THE COLUMBIA LINE AND I WILL CONTINUE TO USE THERE EQUIPMENT. I GOT THE ACTION ATTACK DRILLED UP TODAY AND I WAS QUITE PLEASED WITH ITS REACTION. IT HAS A LITTLE MORE POP ON THE BACK END THAN THE ACTION MAX WITH JUST AS MUCH IF NOT MORE HOOK. TIS BALL ACTUALLY HOOKED MORE THAN MY NEW NO MERCY FROM HAMMER AND THATS SAYS Allot

And the 3 rd. was the Angular One

If you that had negative comments on what I had posted before I am sorry, but stuff like these reviews are just one of the things that are what is going wrong here at ballreviews . You have the right to criticize me as well as I have the right to post this.

I agree wirh you.These are comments and not true reviews.
Butter should be urged to express his entheusiasm in the manufacturer forums and not in reviews.

Nothing wrong with the posts just in the wrong forum.

Yeah, so having that in my signature singles me out as a punk kid.

Have you seen all the stupid reviews that people who've just joined post? It just seems to me that a lot of it are just kids (maybe even adults) who are just bored, and have nothing else better to do to occupy their time.
I'm not one to judge, but BR has really gone downhill, and everything like that I really don't take seriously anymore.

First of all, the grammer and spelling need at least a little bit of work to make the reviews readable. Also, there's a key called "Caps Lock" that should be turned off.

Other than that, the main beef I have with those reviews is the same that anyone else would have. There's not really any information given about the ball, the way it behaves, how it's drilled, what conditions it might be good for, etc. Basically, those reviews are almost an advertisement. "THIS BALL HOOKS A LOT"

It might attract someone who only wants a ball that "HOOKS A LOT", but it's not very useful to someone who wants to find out if a ball is right for them.

But who is to say that what they are posting is not of interest? It might be of interest to them and some others, but just not to you. So what you are saying is that if it does not interest you, then we should not post it. ( I know that is not what you are saying, but that is what it sounds like.)

There are alot of posts on here that do not interest me. But if I happen to click on them and find it of no interest, then I go back to the menu and choose another one. Why bash the person for saying something that excited them? One thing that really gets me is that people post how they bowl in practice and it always seems to be higher then league. My thing is why are you keeping score in practice? Practice is just that, PRACTICE. Tht is a time to try new things, differnt lines, hand positions, ball speeds, ect... Of course when it is league time, oil will play a major factor in what you are able to do. As well as how you feel, your day at work, ect...

And some people do not really understand how their ball is drilled. I PM'd someone and asked them a question about something they put on their post on hwo their ball was drilled. They told me they did not really understand it. Not saying anything is wrong with that, was just wondering what it all meant.

As far as spelling, I got a reply to a post that I did that said if I spelled better people might want to reply to my post. some people just tend to type quick and miss a letter here or there. That is no reason to get down on the person for that.

A tag line like that led me to believe you were a liberal type and more prone to be tolerant of others and less apt to label a fellow human being.

I happen to believe the vast majority of the reviews are a waste of time but that was not the point I was making.
I was simply stating that it may be more productive to PM a new poster,whether young or old and explain that broad comments as to the merit of a ball are best made in the manufacturer forum and not ball reviews.
Since there is no review template provided to follow as to what information should be included to constitute a good review is left up to the reviewer to decide what to write.This means some will be in great detail while others will only contain the usual cliches.The fault here lies with the webmaster not the poster.

Rob loves your work and encouraged you to do more but as you stated others didn't.That does not mean they should feel free to single you out for wasting the site's time.Do we really need to set ourselves as judge and jury to every poster who does not follow our unwritten rules on this site?

It's just aggravating, is all. I know I shouldn't have lashed out, but it really gets old shoe of seeing reviews, and threads like that. I should encourage, and so on and so forth, to help better the site.
