This may have been asked a zillion times already but a search turns up nothing.

Is there a chart or charts that enables one to decipher the serial numbers on bowling balls?

On my Storm-made Dynos, the first two digits are the year of manufacture, then some letters that identify which ball it is (DTL for my Dynothane Thing Lives, for instance), then, as far as I know, numbers that simply uniquely identify the ball. Other Storm-made balls I've seen are like that as well. I don't know about other brands.

For most companies, the first two numbers are the year of manufacture. The only company who does not do this is Brunswick, and any ball made by Brunswick, MoRich and older Lane 1 balls.

For mine, there are a few letters that identify the ball as, say, a Big-R-Bang or Black Pearl, then four or five numbers that are unique to that ball.
