prolly going to be making a transaction with another BR member soon and was wondering if anyone knows about how much it cost to ship a ball and what the best method is???

If you double box bowling balls,as you should, it will almost never be damaged, bu tthere are no guarantee, only insurance.

Both FEDEX and UPS seem, to me, to be the safest, quickest and easiest to use.

FEDEX is slightly cheaper and they do normally deliver on Saturday. UPS is slightly safer, and for me, seem to treat packages slightly better. But this also seems more dependent on the local FEDEX and UPS people in your neighborhood, as others have had the opposite treatment. UPS alos has a number of stores almost in every town and they are very convenient for me. The nearest FEDEX is 20 - 25 minutes away. This may also vary with where you live.

Both provide a true tracking number, insurance for the first $100 (edited) free as part of the price and guarantee delivery within a specified period of time,none of which the post office does. Insurance is always extra and there is no true tracking number no matter the price.

I may be wrong but I think its just the first $100 that is insured not $1000. But Charlest is on the money.

I hate UPS for so many reasons.

Every package has to have the delivery date rescheduled at least once. You can literally watch your package sit somewhere for ever and never move. Plus UPS cost more and in most cases takes the full 5 business days whenever possible.

Fedex ground will deliver on saturdays and in most cases is there in 3 days. I can ship a bowling ball from 72116 to anywhere in the lower 48 for $13-14 with insurance. I sent a case of four (62 lbs total) insured for about $37. That is tough to beat. I go with Fedex any chance I get.

Fedex works the best for me. They also have shipping centers set up in Kinkos shop's. The cost of the ball depends on where you're shipping it to. You can go to fedex.com and go to calculate time and cost. Use a 10x10x10 box and whatever weight ball you're shipping, add 1 pound to it for the boxes. Make sure that you click that you're shipping to a residence in order to get the most accurate price.

That's some serious exaggeration. In the time I worked at The UPS Store, we had somewhere in the ballpark of 1% of our shipped packages get there late whenever there were normal conditions. (A blizzard or ice storm, obviously, would be an exception)  The only time a package would take 5 business days to be delivered is if you went coast-to-coast.  Shipping from Kentucky to most parts of the USA would be 1-3 business days.  California, Oregon, etc. are the only places that take five days.  And my experiences getting stuff shipped to me via UPS and FedEx are almost identical in terms of delays, routing errors, etc.  I've only had trouble a handful of times with either.

I use both companies. I have had companies shipping things to me blame UPS or FEDEX when they dropped the ball. I have had FEDEX deliver my stuff to my neighbor. I think they are comparable. If you aren't in a hurry ship it by mail.

I have a Fed ex account to ship stuff and have had very few issues over the past 5 years. I can ship 1 bowling ball double boxed in a 9x9x9 outside box from Texas to just about any us 48 destination for between $12 and $15 and that includes $100 insurance..

NEVER EVER use the US mail to ship a bowling ball. It will cost you a small fortune to ship it priority mail and it will take FOREVER via 1st class parcel post. Just dont do it, period.. Its also impossible to track it with the us mail. To me, that reason alone is a reason to not use them..

It's not an exaggeration when your the one waiting on the package and you track it daily only to see it get somewhere and then never move.
