Anyone know the story with UPS and this new Simple Rate shipping??
I haven't shipped a ball or balls in years!!
I'm shipping 2 balls in a double box: 9" x 9" x 19", weighing 30 lbs. (2 x 14 lb. balls),
going from New Jersey to Oregon, cross country.
Normally such a size, weighing 30 lbs, cross country is now $80 roughly with insurance. It's gotten very expensive.
But I see now there's an alternative in UPS called Simple Rate shipping. It seems similar to the post office's flat rate. You put in the volume of the box (9x9x19 = 1450 cubic inches, "extra large category"). You're limited to 50 pounds. Fine.
I entered the departure and delivery zipcodes and I get a cost of $30.
That means UPS loses $50 in fees. I don't get that. Could this all be true?
Has anyone shipped balls using this UPS method? Seems too good to be true.
I'll probably double check this with UPS before I bring this package to the UPS office and learn I did something wrong or made a bad assumption.
Thanks.
