What's your hand/wrist position upon release? A video of yours would be good - an idea I have is that you might break back your wrist (thumb pointing straight forward, as an elongation of your lower arm), while staying well behind the ball? If that's the case, you might try to keep your wrist straighter, so that the palm "plane" of your hand becomes the virtual extensionof your lower arm. This should help you getting around the ball a bit more, creating more side roll and changing the initial rotational axis upwards.

But it is just a guess, getting a good look at your release would be the best way to tell you more or definitive.

 A better question is Why?

Those that can do. Those that can't complain. Pimpin ain't easy, but it's mandatory.

Any decent driller can address this with correct layout and ball surface.
