Ball Spinner Advice Needed
« on: November 18, 2008, 01:07:39 AM »
I am ready to buy my first spinner and don't want to buy one that turns out bad. What HP? Will a built in splash guard(Donkee) work better than a tub? Are 2 speeds really necessary? Any brands good or bad? I have worked my average up from 160 to 200 and want to keep improving with better ball understanding and modification. Thanks for any inputs.

Vertex 1/2HP.  One of my best bowling investments ever.  If something does (unlikely) go wrong with it, Vertex is wonderful to deal with...they will fix it, at their expense shipping-wise, with zero hassle.  I've had mine for a few years and it works wonderfully.

Used a Vertex 1/3 hp single speed for 6+ years now. Great tool, no vibration, incredible service. Highest recommendation!!!!
Wanted to get 1/2 hp version but can't see any reason to do so.

I have a Donkee.  The thing can double as a painter shaker.

I did own a donkee spinner but the high speed was a bit to much. I sold it after two years and bought a 1/3 Vertex, light as heck and great on tournaments. I do not need a two speed spinner!

This is how I feel, I haven't owned mine nearly that long but I can accomplish anything I want and feel no need for a 2 speed spinner, my 1/3hp Vertex has been fantastic, no complaints whatsoever.

Get the 1/2 hp if you are going to do any heavy sanding or refinishing. If not get the 1/3 hp. I used to sell the Vertex spinners thru my online shop and had absolutely no complaints. The people that own the company are easy to do business and will stand behind what they sell.

I have a Donkee for at least 5 years. No complaints, it is great having the splash guard if you do a lot of refinishing. Get the foot pedal its worth it, very handy. If you need a part for the spinner they ship it out very fast. I like the 2 speed you can get a very high polish with it. I made a table for it to sit on with a bucket underneath. It has a drain out the bottom for water to run out.If you can swing it get the higher HP.

Another vote for the 1/2 HP Vertex, mine sits in a 73 gallon plastic tub with a lid from a Target store, it's been 2 years now and works flawlessly.
