Did you watch today's telecast?

Ever see WRW blow by a single ten pin? Everybody was shocked, especially WRW!

And we wonder why bowling gets no respect. We have Scroggins that in my opinion, has no physical game and the only thing that helps him is equipment, and then we have Rhino Page who has an excelent physical game and loses. Nothing against Scroggins or WRW, but when you got two old guys beating out the younger players, no one is interested.

Dj--I might agree slightly on the youth/aged player thing but not on the fluffer that Scroggins is vs a player like Page that has more revs.  WRW has showed time and again forward roll is and can be very dominating. WRW and Scroggins have won earlier in their careers with less hooking equipment.  Cell has definetly given Scroggins a new weapon.  Anybody can use it.

Page and Oatman had good looks on the left side after Oatman figured it out.  Their bad that they can't make better shots and decisions.  PDW a poor shot.  WRW bad carry maybe poor ball choice but who really knows.  Scroggins did the best with what he's got.

Pba is what it is a minor league sport that is a fill in for ESPN on Sunday's when they don't have some poker tourney or a pool tourney re-run.  I appreciate being able to see it.  Ya never know the PBA could go el-foldo anytime.  Then, we can wacth more X-Games.

That is the great thing about Bowling, you don't have to look pretty to score or win. Scroggins has a nice fluid motion through out his delivery. I don't know what you consider a great physical game but he has overcome a lot of mental stuff to win this year. Sure, he may have taken advantage of some of the equipment he has been using lately but don't we all. If I new a certain ball will give a good "all around" reaction on a variety of conditions I would most definately be using it too. Scroggins looks very confident with the CELL in his hands where he didn't look comfortable using the Track equipment he has used the past couple of years. Not a knock on TRACK but it is what it is.
I am with you in the respect that when you think of a Professional Bowler you would think poetry in motion from them all that just isn't the case. It doesn't matter what your form is as long as you hit your target and have accuracy.

I know what you are saying, but I'm just saying why it doesn't get respect as a sport. In many sports, the player's prime is usually a few years after they go pro. They still have the physical ability and they learn the ropes of the professional game. In bowling, you still have 50 year olds able to score because of high-tech equipment.

I am not sure about Scroggins but I do know that WRW has won with in his 30's with lesser tech equipment.  Scroggins at a younger age also.  They can repeat shots that's what it's about.

I see the older players being able to compete as one of the coolest things about bowling.

Repeating shots is not what I am talking about. What I am talking about is the ridiculous carry that high-tech equipment gives some of the bowlers. Even 10 years ago it took more power to get that kind of carry. Just think, in another 10 years you can put one rev on the ball and carry the house as long as you can repeat shots.

To some degree, it does bring some attractiveness to the sport. At the same time, people can't respect it.

I agree he was doing it 15-20 years ago. I don't think football players can compete 20 years after their prime. I even think golfers have a hard time. Just some observations.
