Let's face it
« on: March 17, 2010, 06:19:07 AM »
Let's face it. Bowling in leagues is going down fast. Even without seeing the numbers I can tell. The PBA is on it's last leg. Bowling in general is for lazy fat people. Bowling shops are hurting because there are NO customers. I know of 1 that says He is hurting. Shops every day are going out of business. The online shops can hold their own. They are selling at cost but when they buy 1000 at a time they can sell cheap. I love to Bowl but not nearly as much as i used to. Other things liking opening a business is in my future. Bowling is in the dirt.

Maybe Obama could step up and save the Tour ????   Since he loves bowling sooo much,  I want nothing more than to see Pepsi, Flomax, Lumber Liquadators drop the PBA !!!!!  Its time for its demise.  The prize fund is a joke anyways.   Im sure even the exempt guys are hurting !

Posting in a readable format that at least resembles spoken language (unless you really are William Shatner) would be super as well.

Ahhh, Twitches has not learned the language of jls!

And Boos is right!  The bowling world is only one step away from being a larger version of skee-ball!  If/when the PBA folds, you might as well install the ticket dispensers on the ball returns and set up the carney prize shop behind the shoe rental counter!

Righto tardo.

And yet you are here asking about getting a new ball or moving up to 15.

Take up a new hobby.

I read, and i hope that my memory serves me well here, that next years PBA Tournament of Champions will be like a $1 million dollar prize purse... Thats not bad!!! Its the richest prize fund in PBA history..

Either way, some posters here made mention of the "respect" factor... That is probably the missing link with the average non bowler and how they perceive bowling, there is NO respect.. Its comical really, most people when u mention bowling, think of Barney Rubble and Fred bowling, think of Homer and his team Pinpals, or beer swilling, smoking slobs!!.. Its kind of a laughing stock... People don't take bowling as a sport serious, or any form of a sport. Its not their fault, they are only a product of our lazy and unenlightened society, there are so many other options for kids and adults alike to do, and not feel bound to a 35 week season!.. In US its on at same time as Monday night football (or use to be), I'm not from US by the way, so forgive me If things have changed..

Its a bloody shame that bowling is suffering, and somehow beach volleyball is booming.. What the ??? (I hope any beach volleyballers aren't overly offended)..
I can watch beach volleyball at least once a week on sports TV station (this is not pay TV or Foxtel)...There must be several sports that have picked up a new generation, lawn bowls, another on TV twice a week, growing in popularity with Friday night, have a game or two barefeet with a sausage and a beer for $5.. Thats pretty smart promotion...Both also have acquired Olympic status incidentally....

Bowling as a product is a big winner... It has everything going for it.. Some great PBA stories and big personalities, Tom Smallwood, Jason Belmonte, Kelly Kullik... Walter Ray, the big bad Pete Weber (whom I love his passion on the lanes)... You have a sport that everybody can participate in, and I do mean everybody, so, its needs to not just promote their cosmic bowling and birthday parties.... Seriously, In Aus its a hefty % of their weekly takings..

I'm just rambling now, I'm going, whether I added anything to this discussion, I don't know, most likely not,as it probably has all been said many times and more elloquently than myself before ... Anyway, I love it, and respect it, I try and convince my mates, they don't get it, think I'm mad lol!!
