Ball suggestion
« on: December 07, 2011, 07:25:27 PM »
I was looking at my equipment and had to be honest with myself I just don't matchup well with top shelve balls. I know it's me but it is what it is, so I guess staying with mid range balls is the way for me. I can stay with  them longer, adjust easier, make a more knowledge switch to another ball easier. They don't have to be brand new balls just out so in everyones opinion what is close to the pearl cell and fired up.

Don't worry about performance/high-end balls.  This is really a name or category that is assigned by the manufacturer to give you an idea of how much potential hook a ball has.

We have a bowler on our league that was a 220 average with old equipment.  He bought a reactive ball and only averaged 180 with it.  He had to buy a new old-style uerathane ball to start scoring more.  He is now back to 220 avg.

900 Global came out with the Wisdom and Jewel and recommended them for older people.  They are designed for people who have lower speed, because they don't hook as much or over-react.

I think you should consider yourself lucky you don't have to spend as much money on equipment as other people do.

Remeber, Kelly Kulick didn't have the speed or Revs that Chris Barnes does, but she blew everybody away in the PBA Championships, because her Speed and Revs matched the lanes better than all the other bowlers she faced.

14lb 15.5 mph at pins 325 Revs. Silver Coach, Ball Driller. In Bag:  Storm Pro-Motion, Hyroad X, Matchup, Code Red.

Ditto. In most cases mid-range pieces are enough for everyday business, and with less aggressive covers such balls are IMO more forgiving and durable, and simple, symmetrical cores broaden the utility window. They are cheaper, too.
