ball suggestions??
« on: March 16, 2009, 10:36:18 PM »
What are some of your ball suggestions. I want a pearlized ball that is smooth off the hand, with a smooth arc to the pocket. (high spin time) Ball manufacturer really doesn't matter.
any suggestions would be helpful,
thanks Ronnie

it is very hard to find a pearl ball that has a smooth arc to the pocket.

Your best bet might be a Street Rod Solid with polish

I have twisted fury pearl with the pin below the fingers and it is very smooth without any snap on the backend.  I go to this once the lanes start breaking down after my Hyroad starts turning too hard.

I got myself a G-3 Gryphon from Visionary just for a similar reason, and it performs quite well. Good medioum condition ball OOB, core has lots of flare to offer. Mine is drilled with the pin in the ring finger (about 4.25" from PAP), CG stacked, and it is definitvely not flippy. Good length thorugh the heads even when the oil starts to face, and a rather continuous hook - and lots of it if there is dry area to cling to.

IMHO, Brunswick's Smash Zone would also fill the bill, even though I'd consider it a bit more aggressive overall - but from what I have seen and experienced not flippy, too.

Anyway, a lower pin is a good start with whatever ball you choose, since it tames down the overall reaction.

900 Global Break Pearl and Brunswick Twisted Fury Pearl are both fairly smooth and arcy for me, but I don't have a lot of hand.

Would a rico layout on these balls workout or would that make them just too archy and smooth??
