16lbs saved my "career."
« on: February 12, 2008, 01:53:40 PM »
I wouldnt call it a career really....... but, I have contemplating quiting competitive bowling for the last couple months.

My timing had been so terrible (on and off, up and down).
I would shoot 760-740-580-680-550-660......... ugh.

I've tried everything in my knowledge to fix it, and nothing worked.

I would slow the feet down and the swing would stay the same....
I would slow the swing down and the feet would speed up....

I tried taking my hand out of the ball and play straighter...... nope.
Tried moving in and slow hooking it........ nope.

The last thing I tried was switching to 16lbs from 15lbs.
and WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

I never thought about doing it considering I'm 140 lbs soaking wet in the ocean with a dolphin on my back.....

The swing naturally slowed a hair and all I had to do was concentrate on keeping the feet at a good tempo.

Not only did my timing correct itself but I can manipulate the ball better too.
(hand positions, speed, direction, etc...)

So if anyone out there is throwing 14/15 lbs and is having some tough times try the next pound up and it might just SAVE YOUR "CAREER".

If these are scores for reason to quit...I'd quit.

Just a follow up.  I bowled a 299 game last night at AMF Thruway Lanes with the 16 lb. LT-48 Gold.  The 9 pin spun around and stood up.  My friend said he thought I had a 90% chance of striking after my last delivery.  I should have shot my first 700 in over two years, but 3 splits and me refusing to mess with a good thing cost me.  By the way, I have two 700's, both using 16 lb. equipment.

I didn't need Chuck Norris last night when I finally shot my first 800 series.
