Wrist Support
« on: May 08, 2009, 01:15:21 PM »
Got a recent wrist injury and may try a new brace for my summer league.  Was looking at something simple like mongoose lifter or one from storm similar to that.  Not looking to be robo cop with all the plastic and adjustable stuff just something to help support my wrist. Anybody use mongoose or similar type braces.  How do they measure for s,m,l with those braces forearm diameter or do I just got with big and tighten it up.

Thanks

I have several braces, including the Mongoose Lifter and some of the "robo-braces." I'm not having to use them at the moment, but I will again if my wrist flares up.

The Lifter is a nice brace, comfy to wear, but it is limiting. I have a hard time doing anything besides coming up the back of the ball. If that's already your style, go for it. It will probably work for you.

The most comfortable brace for me is the Robby's Revs I, which is a robo-brace. I barely feel it when I have it on and I can play close to my regular shot line with it.

My advice is to not care what others might think about it or whether it's "robo" or not and get what (a) is comfortable and (b) allows you to bowl without pain. Those should be the only two considerations. The Lifter doesn't always keep my wrist from hurting the next day, but with the Revs I, I can bowl all week and be fine.

Just get you a basic Robby, take out the palm side metal support(leaving just the wrist side), you have basic comfortable support that's easy on the wallet.
