Lots of rumors going around about the bowling business, so let's start a thread just based off of speculation.
Known fact. Brunswick and co is up for sale. More than likely will be snatched up by another large company. Who would benefit from acquiring Brunswick, DV8 and Radical, and who would suffer because of it?
Rumor. Big PBA name signed to 900 Global. Which means 900 Global would have to be PBA approved again. Which means someone is jumping ship from their current contract. Some say Barnes, some say Belmonte, some say nothing. If Barnes leaves Columbia 300, does that really put another nail in EBI's coffin? What is he going to do with his blue pants?
Is the whole game going to come down to Kentucky vs Utah with a sprinkle of Michigan on the side?
-
Options are endless. How much does any PBA bowler mean for ball sales at this point? Most league bowlers do not appear to watch the tour.
How many proshops on here can comment on the number of bowlers coming in and referencing the PBA these days compared to 10-15 years ago?
Whomever buys Brunswick will take a hold of an even larger piece of the market. Im hoping for ABS to do it.
-
Michigan will soon only be Motiv...
-
Who does Michigan currently produce?
-
Brunswick is currently based out of Muskegon as is Motiv
-
Ahhh. Was thinking of production. So maybe sales news will be following to start the new year.
-
The box says that my Sigma Sting was made in Muskegon, Michigan. Motiv's home office appears to be in Spring Lake, Michigan.
-
Michigan will soon only be Motiv...
See, I see something like this, and can't help to think that either Utah or Kentucky bought it, but I've also heard that EBI did NOT buy Brunswick, so that really leaves only one other company with the capital to do so...
Of course, all speculation.
-
I have a dream.... and it is JUST a dream... but maybe visionary will buy them! :D
ok probably not...
-
That's abt 30 mins from Muskegon
-
Why would any other U.S. based manufacturer buy them? What do they accomplish?
-
Speculation begot that's a huge investment in regards to actual ROI...
-
In my mind, marketshare, or to get rid of it. Brunswick people will still be Brunswick people, mainly. Hammer is the only brand under the EBI umbrella pulling it's own weight, so it might be seen as a death blow.
-
That also frees up Phil and Mo to come over, they bring on the staffers (PBIII, Rash, Sterner, WRWJR, etc), and get rid of the brands. More wall space for them if they get rid of the brands, more wall space for them if they keep marketing them.

A bigger share of the market lol. Im still hoping to see American Bowling Supply in America
-
Market share of a shrinking market not quite business 101....
-
I'm only quoting a point someone else made on the same subject....but I don't think they are a business major.
-
BallReviews poster generally does not translate to business major (:
-
I'm in IT, so I have to think of the absolutely out of this world situations. :)
-
I'm NOT in IT and I still think of the absolutely out of this world situations...
-
Im in deductive reasoning and gathering information but like anyone else on the internet I know everything and have done anything anyone else has done only better lol.
I can't wait to see where it goes. I'm a huge Brunswick guy and find it very interesting.......im also a nerd like that.
-
I'm highly into misinformation and the pure solicitation of it...as far as you know
-
Probably spell your name with a K as well. The truth is out there.
It does make sense why Brunswick still hasn't posted their 2015 proshop promotions offer. They said it would be any day now......two weeks ago lol.
-
It's always any day now somewhere no?
-
2015 Rewards Plus just was released today, ask your Product Specialist for the new form.
As for the speculation on who will be buying Brunswick, the answer will be soon. It's down to just a select few finalists.
-
The rewards program is a no brainer for my shop (even being a smaller revenue place) it has easily paid for itself a couple times over this year. Looking forward to another great BIG B/DV8/RADICAL year!!
-
Thanks Nick. Filling it out now!!!
-
Awesome.
Enjoy all the free money. :)
-
It is just me, or is there irony in the fact that a company that isn't doing well enough to sustain itself and has to sell, is giving away free money?!?
Awesome.
Enjoy all the free money. :)
-
Jorge prepare yourself...
-
Have I poked the sleeping giant?!?
If I am wrong, I'm wrong. That's just the first thing I thought of when I saw that post.
Jorge prepare yourself...
-
Giant no...the cult yes tho
-
Free money is like free shipping………there ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
-
1) Nothing is free, it's an expression. Much the same to members of Costco who get that "Free 1%" in rewards for being an Executive member.
2) We're doing just fine, selling the products division was a choice by the corporation after being offered a substantial sum of money for the bowling centers. Bowling was 8% of Brunswick Corp, without the centers, even less. Our divisions have had plenty of interest from investors and other companies in the industry. Speculate all you want, 2015 will be a great year for Brunswick products with new ownership in place.
It's getting close, down to the final few in the process.
-
Brunsnick,
I understood that. But it is hard not to see the irony of it when you look at the situation, at least for me it is.
As a bowler, I hope the Brunswick name stays around for a long time to come. A lack of competition only hurts the consumers. I look forward to hearing who the new owners will be.

I see your point. To counter, things are not always sold because they are doing poorly. I'm sure plenty of people sold their houses this year because they built a ton of equity and cashed out.
-
It's similar to offers by other companies. The more you buy the more you save. No one thought AMF/Global was going under after Storm/Roto made their deal. It's all in how you view it.
-
Nick, keep drinking the horchata.
-
Michigan will soon only be Motiv...
Are Brunswick and Motiv affliated in anyway?
-
Nick, keep drinking the horchata.
I see what you did here.
-
Isn't he paid to drink it?
-
Just like all the others low on the totem pole at a publicly traded company, he will find out his future after the public announcement is made. Anything they are told now is just to keep the worker bees having a warm and fuzzy because the company needs them to stick around.
-
Even if the worst happens, something tells me I will be just fine. Zero doom and gloom here.
Thanks for your concern.
Merry Christmas.
-
I think BrunsNick will be fine!
StormNick, RotoNick, EboNick, MotivNick, 900Nick.....he'll figure it out.
Could lead to some new videos!!!

The Internet is a great place for some to exist
-
I hear that there is more than one big name switching companies and these two are going to be hard to imagine throwing another company.
-
Heard Norm Duke was going to EBI
